  • Patent number: 11944440
Abstract: An implantable device for estimating neural recruitment arising from a stimulus, has a plurality of electrodes. A stimulus source provides stimuli to be delivered from the electrodes to neural tissue. Measurement circuitry obtains a measurement of a neural signal sensed at the electrodes. A control unit is configured to control application of a selected stimulus to neural tissue using the stimulus electrodes; and after the selected neural stimulus, apply a probe stimulus having a short pulse width. A remnant neural response evoked by the probe stimulus is measured; and the control unit estimates from the remnant neural response a neural recruitment caused by the selected neural stimulus.

  • Patent number: 11944439
Abstract: An implantable device for controlling electrical conditions of body tissue. A feedback sense electrode and a compensation electrode are positioned proximal to the tissue to make electrical contact with the tissue. A feedback amplifier is referenced to ground, and takes as an input a feedback signal from the feedback sense electrode. The output of the feedback amplifier is connected to the compensation electrode. The feedback amplifier thus drives the neural tissue via the compensation electrode in a feedback arrangement which seeks to drive the feedback signal to ground, or other desired electrical value.

  • Publication number: 20230370662
Abstract: A monitoring and analysis system is disclosed that gathers and analyzes information about distributed enhanced content delivery to end user or other equipment. The system may establish communications connections along the content delivery system, filter content received from different locations of the system, and compare the received content with an expected content characteristic. Also, a radio frequency signal from the distribution network may be converted into an Internet Protocol (IP) format by a converter so that the transformed signal may be similarly analyzed as other signals from the system. A report may be consequently generated that is indicative of the received enhanced content and any detected discrepancies with respect to expected enhancement events. Identification of the enhanced content may be based on the program association table and the program map table in order to determine the packet ID of the application signals.

  • Patent number: 11815670
Abstract: An optical scanning microscope includes an illumination system (160) and an objective lens (134) operable together to provide the excitation radiation (152, 154) in a focal volume (124) at sufficient intensity to cause emission of emission radiation from a sample in the focal volume. The objective lens (134) is scanned by an objective scanner (130, 132). In this example an x-y transducer (xyXD) (130) is connected to a kinematic flexure mechanism (132) which acts as a scanning lens mount. The kinematic flexure mechanism is operable to scan the objective in two dimensions transverse with respect to the objective's optical axis so as to scan the emitting focal volume in corresponding dimensions. The kinematic flexure mechanism may be a unitary 3D-printed member.

  • Publication number: 20230337962
Abstract: Controlling a neural stimulus comprises applying the neural stimulus to a neural pathway in order to give rise to an evoked action potential on the neural pathway, the stimulus being defined by at least one stimulus parameter. A neural compound action potential response evoked by the stimulus is measured, and from the measured evoked response a feedback variable is derived. Loop backoff behaviour is adjusted by applying a non-identity function to the feedback variable to produce a revised feedback variable, and completing a feedback loop by using the revised feedback variable to control the at least one stimulus parameter so as to maintain the feedback variable at a setpoint. Additionally, or alternatively, loop gain can be adjusted in response to a change in the loop setpoint, and/or a logarithm of the stimulus parameter can be controlled.

  • Publication number: 20230241397
Abstract: A method of applying a neural stimulus with an implanted electrode array involves applying a sequence of stimuli configured to yield a therapeutic effect while suppressing psychophysical side effects. The stimuli sequence is configured such that a first stimulus recruits a portion of the fibre population, and a second stimulus is delivered within the refractory period following the first stimulus and the second stimulus being configured to recruit a further portion of the fibre population. Using an electrode array and suitable relative timing of the stimuli, ascending or descending volleys of evoked responses can be selectively synchronised or desynchronised to give directional control over responses evoked.

  • Publication number: 20230233859
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a device for applying a neural stimulus. A battery supplies electrical energy at a battery voltage and an electrode applies the electrical energy to neural tissue. A circuit measures the nervous response of the tissue and a voltage converter receives the electrical energy from the battery and controls a voltage applied to the electrode based on the measured nervous response of the tissue. This direct voltage control is energy efficient because losses across a typical current mirror are avoided. Further, the control based on the measured nervous response leads to automatic compensation of impedance variation due to in-growth or change in posture. As a result, the stimulation results in a desired neural response.
