  • Publication number: 20250048039
Abstract: An electrostatic transducer, a diaphragm therefor, and corresponding methods of manufacture are disclosed. The electrostatic transducer is preferably for use in a motor vehicle. A composite laminated diaphragm is manufactured by providing a first insulating layer, providing a conductive layer on a surface of the first insulating layer, and bonding a second insulating layer to the conductive layer such that the second insulating layer extends over the conductive layer. The first and second insulating layers each comprise a sheet of uncharged insulating material. The thickness of the composite laminated diaphragm is less than 20 ?m. Manufacturing the electrostatic transducer comprises securing a first conductive stator, a first insulating spacer and the diaphragm in a stack with the first insulating spacer between the first conductive stator and the diaphragm to provide a spacing of less than 1 mm between the first conductive stator and the diaphragm.

  • Publication number: 20240388855
Abstract: An electrostatic transducer includes first and second flexible conductive membranes; and first and second conductive stators. The membranes and the stators are assembled in a layered configuration with the membranes the stators. The electrostatic transducer is arranged in use to apply an electrical potential which gives rise to an electrostatic force between the membranes and the stators that causes the membranes to move relative to the stators. The first and second flexible conductive membranes have respective first and second effective compliances, wherein the first effective compliance is at least 10% greater than the second effective compliance.

  • Publication number: 20240381036
Abstract: An electrostatic transducer includes first and second flexible conductive membranes; and first and second conductive stators. The membranes and the stators are assembled in a layered configuration with the membranes between the stators and with an enclosed volume of air sealed between the first and second membranes. The electrostatic transducer is arranged in use to apply an electrical potential which gives rise to an electrostatic force between the membranes and the stators that causes the membranes to move relative to the stators.

  • Patent number: 9414156
Abstract: Techniques are described for processing an audio signal to reduce the total harmonic distortion caused when it is reproduced by a loudspeaker, which is located within an audio reproduction device having an enclosure with an associated resonant frequency. After receiving the input audio signal, which includes the resonant frequency of the enclosure, the level of the input audio signal at the resonant frequency is reduced, thereby producing a first processed signal. In addition, the level of said input audio signal is reduced at all frequencies, producing a second processed signal. The first and second processed signals are combined to produce an output audio signal. The degree to which the level of the audio signal at both the resonant frequency and at all frequencies is reduced may be dependent upon the current volume level.
