Publication number: 20240388855Abstract: An electrostatic transducer includes first and second flexible conductive membranes; and first and second conductive stators. The membranes and the stators are assembled in a layered configuration with the membranes the stators. The electrostatic transducer is arranged in use to apply an electrical potential which gives rise to an electrostatic force between the membranes and the stators that causes the membranes to move relative to the stators. The first and second flexible conductive membranes have respective first and second effective compliances, wherein the first effective compliance is at least 10% greater than the second effective compliance.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2022Publication date: November 21, 2024Inventors: Benjamin Martin Lisle, James Hedges, Samuel John Evans, Ashley Marriott

Publication number: 20240381036Abstract: An electrostatic transducer includes first and second flexible conductive membranes; and first and second conductive stators. The membranes and the stators are assembled in a layered configuration with the membranes between the stators and with an enclosed volume of air sealed between the first and second membranes. The electrostatic transducer is arranged in use to apply an electrical potential which gives rise to an electrostatic force between the membranes and the stators that causes the membranes to move relative to the stators.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2022Publication date: November 14, 2024Inventors: Benjamin Martin Lisle, James Hedges, Samuel John Evans, Ashley Marriott

Patent number: 11932404Abstract: This disclosure describes an on-board oxygen generating system (OBOGS) using open loop control. An example OBOGS includes a concentrator comprising at least two beds and a controller. Each bed has a valve to pneumatically couple the bed between a supply gas source and a vent; The controller receives at least one input signal from at least one sensor aboard an aircraft, and determines a predicted oxygen concentration output from the at least two beds into the based on the received input signals. The controller controls the valves of the at least two beds based on the determined predicted oxygen concentration to adjust charge/vent ratios of the at least two beds.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Peter James Hedges, Andrew Paul Marsh

Patent number: 9414156Abstract: Techniques are described for processing an audio signal to reduce the total harmonic distortion caused when it is reproduced by a loudspeaker, which is located within an audio reproduction device having an enclosure with an associated resonant frequency. After receiving the input audio signal, which includes the resonant frequency of the enclosure, the level of the input audio signal at the resonant frequency is reduced, thereby producing a first processed signal. In addition, the level of said input audio signal is reduced at all frequencies, producing a second processed signal. The first and second processed signals are combined to produce an output audio signal. The degree to which the level of the audio signal at both the resonant frequency and at all frequencies is reduced may be dependent upon the current volume level.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2012Date of Patent: August 9, 2016Assignee: Sontia Logic LimitedInventors: Alan Bithell, James Hedges, Weiming Li, Christopher David Vernon

Publication number: 20080079293Abstract: The invention as presently conceived discloses a unique system and method for an improved infant car seat having an integral extra transportation apparatus combining the functionality of a car seat with a stroller into one device. The apparatus generally resembles a conventional infant car seat but with an overhead handle that can be extracted from behind the headrest with a set of two folding legs extending downward and locking in place. Each extended leg has a pair of wheels that when used in conjunction with the handle allows the entire apparatus to serve as an infant stroller in a manner similar to a wheelbarrow. A third brace leg has a stabilizing rubber foot that extends down from behind the seat to allow the apparatus to safely stand unassisted. This novel apparatus and system will permit a care giver to remove the apparatus from a vehicle with the infant remaining in the seat, and by extending the legs into place, transform the apparatus into a stroller.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2007Publication date: April 3, 2008Inventors: Edward James Hedges, Suzanne Gutierrez-Hedges, Lisa Lynn Hubbard
