  • Patent number: 10666926
Abstract: Multiview calibration is essential for accurate three-dimensional computation. However, multiview calibration can not be accurate enough because of the tolerances required in some of the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters that are associated with the calibration process, along with fundamental imperfections that are associated with the manufacturing and assembly process itself. As a result, residual error in calibration is left over, with no known methods to mitigate such errors. Residual error mitigation is presented in this work to address the shortcomings that are associated with calibration of multiview camera systems. Residual error mitigation may be performed inline with a given calibration approach, or may be presented as a secondary processing step that is more application specific. Residual error mitigation aims at modifying the original parameters that have been estimated during an initial calibration process.

  • Patent number: 10352788
Abstract: Pre-loaded force sensitive input devices, force sensing resistors (FSR), are formed as a multiple membrane assembly that is capable of detecting low intensity pressure inputs and quantifying varying applications of pressure to the sensor surface. Pre-loading the force sensor elements results in a controlled amount of force between the two substrates causing a constant state of pre-load and eliminating the low-end or minimal pressure signal noise associated with unloaded sensors. Pre-loading the force sensing resistor sensor also enables the sensor to detect removal of low intensity pressure input such as might occur during theft of light weight articles placed in contact with the pre-loaded force sensor. Using an FSR or FSR Matrix Array will enable any handling of protected retail packaging to be detected and identified. A library of “touches” can be established that will yield cutting, ripping, twisting, etc. making the detection of a theft in progress more accurate.

  • Publication number: 20190028414
Abstract: An improved system and method for communication among clients using multiple messaging types are disclosed. In one example, a client includes at least one brew that interfaces with a module. The module encapsulates a transfer mechanism for sending and receiving messages using a particular message type. The client further includes at least one brewer or patron, but may include many brewers and/or patrons, each of which corresponds to at least one topic. An application using the client can send messages to other clients using a standardized interface provided by all brewers and may receive messages from other clients either from patrons using a standardized interface provided by all patrons or from the brew.

  • Publication number: 20180325050
Abstract: A system and method are provided for managing some or all of an agricultural ecosystem. In one example, the method includes obtaining a current soil moisture level for multiple zones at a geographic location, where each of the zones has been assigned a desired minimum soil moisture level. The zones are ranked in a watering schedule based on a delta between the current soil moisture level and the desired minimum soil moisture level of each zone. For each zone, in the order based on the zone's ranking, at least one valve is opened to deliver water to the zone and closed after watering of the zone is completed. The water may be delivered based on time or volume. If by volume, the volume needed by the zone is calculated.

  • Patent number: 9368537
Abstract: A silicon carbide transistor used as an ultraviolet light sensor. The light sensor is mounted inside a probe for detecting ultraviolet light generated by combustion inside an engine. The silicon carbide transistor generates a light voltage that is converted to a digital signal. The digital signal is used in a feedback loop for an engine control module for real time engine control in operating environments. The silicon carbide transistor is mounted inside a glow plug sized engine probe mounted in the cylinder head and the probe includes a quartz window allowing ultraviolet light access between the combustion chamber and the silicon carbide transistor so that the silicon carbide transistor can be mounted proximate the combustion chamber but behind the cooling jackets inside the engine head.

  • Patent number: 9092394
Abstract: A method or system for selecting or pruning applicable verbal commands associated with speech recognition based on a user's motions detected from a depth camera. Depending on the depth of the user's hand or arm, the context of the verbal command is determined and verbal commands corresponding to the determined context are selected. Speech recognition is then performed on an audio signal using the selected verbal commands. By using an appropriate set of verbal commands, the accuracy of the speech recognition is increased.

  • Publication number: 20150017706
Abstract: Enhancing growth of algae in an algaculture facility includes contacting a growth medium with a gas including carbon dioxide, transferring some of the carbon dioxide to the growth medium to yield an enriched growth medium, and providing the enriched growth medium to the algaculture facility. The concentration of dissolved carbon dioxide in the enriched growth medium exceeds the concentration of dissolved carbon dioxide in the growth medium, where dissolved carbon dioxide includes ions formed by the reaction of carbon dioxide with a species in solution. The growth medium may be obtained from the algaculture facility, and may be filtered or otherwise processed before or after contacting the growth medium with the gas. Providing the enriched growth medium to the algaculture facility increases the concentration of dissolved carbon dioxide in the bulk growth medium of the algaculture facility.

  • Patent number: 8890522
Abstract: The present disclosure is intended to describe embodiments for improving image data acquisition and processing in accelerated dynamic magnetic resonance imaging sequences. One embodiment is described where a method includes an acquisition sequence configured to acquire an undersampled set of magnetic resonance data. The undersampled set of magnetic resonance data has a pseudo-random sampling pattern within a data space acquired at a first time, the pseudo-random sampling pattern being influenced by other pseudo-random sampling patterns within the data space arising from the acquisition of additional undersampled sets of magnetic resonance data at respective times. In some embodiments, the pseudo-random sampling patterns of the undersampled sets of magnetic resonance data interleave to yield a desired sampling pattern.

  • Patent number: 8874109
Abstract: A method and system automatically activates a mobile station in a wireless communications network. The system includes an over the air activation function (OTAF) processor in the network that initiates an activation process in response to receiving a registration message from a mobile switching center serving the mobile station requesting the activation. Each mobile station has a unit of information stored into it at the time of its manufacture to enable it to request over the air activation. That unit of information is either the network routing address of the OTAF processor, or alternately, it is a value that is translatable into that address, either an OTAF ID number that is the same value for every mobile station or it is a sequentially serialized dummy value for the mobile identification number (a dummy MIN).
