  • Publication number: 20240065301
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of producing a food or malt-based beverage suitable for consumption by a subject with Coeliac's disease. In particular, the present invention relates to methods of producing a food or malt-based beverage with very low levels of hordeins. Also provided are barley plants which produce grain that can be used in the methods of the invention.

  • Patent number: 10226152
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing a predetermined volume of a warm liquid includes a heater, a pump and a temperature sensor sensitive to the temperature of the liquid upstream of the heater. A controller is arranged to receive upstream temperature data from the temperature sensor, calculate the amount of energy required to reach a desired final temperature, energize the heater for a calculated period of ON time, and dispense liquid for a calculated period of time that is at least partly contemporaneous with the calculated period of ON time. After the heater has been de-energized, the dispensed liquid removes residual heat so that the average temperature after dispensing the predetermined volume is the desired final temperature.

  • Patent number: 9259113
Abstract: A cordless electrical appliance comprises an appliance part comprising at least two functional components (T1, M1) and a base for supplying electrical power to the appliance part. A cordless electrical connector (6) makes electrical connection between the appliance part and the base part in use. Both of the functional components (T1, M1) are connected between a pair of electrical connections provided by the connector (6) and arranged such that at least one of the functional components (T1, M1) is selectively energised in response to a change in the relative polarities of the two electrical connections. A switch such as a diode (D1) may be provided between the two functional components (T1, M1), so as to switch ON or OFF the current to a functional component (T1, M1) depending on the polarity of the connections.

  • Publication number: 20130337132
Abstract: An infusion beverage making apparatus (100) comprises a liquid heater, an infuser (140) for receiving beverage solid and conveying means for conveying heated liquid from the liquid heater onto the beverage solids. The apparatus (100) is configured to operate in at least one phase in which heated liquid is passed from the liquid heater through the beverage solids and in another phase in which steam is passed through at least a portion of the conveying means. A quantity of water is heated to boiling by the liquid heater and a steam pressure allowed to develop as a result which is sufficient to force steam through at least a portion of the conveying means.
