  • Publication number: 20130103847
Abstract: Provisioning a local device with an account associated with a client device or pairing an accessory device with a local device is disclosed. A client device captures a graphical representation of a local device identifier using an image capture device, identifies the local device identifier and transmits the local device identifier to a remote server. The remote server determines an account associated with the client device and associates the local device identifier with the account. An accessory device includes a graphical representation of an accessory device identifier that is captured by an image capture device of the client device. An accessory device identifier is identified and transmitted to the remote server or to the local device, which associates the accessory device identifier with a local device identifier.

  • Publication number: 20120276059
Abstract: Clostridium difficile disease involves a range of clinical presentations ranging from mild to self-limiting diarrhea to life-threatening pseudomembranous colitis and megacolon. Cases of C. difficile are treated differently depending on severity of disease. Mild and moderate cases may be treated with metronidazole while moderate-to-severe and relapsing cases are often treated with vancomycin or fidaxomicin. The presence of C. difficile disease is detected using a biomarker panel that includes C. difficile antigen (GDH), toxins A and B, and fecal lactoferrin. In patients suspected of C. difficile disease, if GDH is detected indicating the presence of C. difficile, and then toxins A and/or B are detected to indicate toxigenic C. difficile and support a diagnosis of C. difficile-associated disease, fecal lactoferrin concentrations are measured to determine severity of the disease by indicating the amount of intestinal inflammation.

  • Patent number: 8283580
Abstract: A method and apparatus for counting nominally identical articles employs weighing apparatus, which comprises a load hod (102) for holding a number of articles to be weighed and a load transducer (20) responsive to loading of the hod (102) to produce a derived electrical signal indicative of the apparent weight of articles in the hod (102). The signal is susceptible to fluctuation as a result of local air currents acting on the hod (102) or on the articles contained therein. The transducer derived signal is filtered to extract a component signal representative of such fluctuation. After further processing, the filtered component signal is used to correct the original transducer signal thereby to indicate the true weight of articles in the hod (102). The number of articles in the hod (102) is then determined by dividing the true weight indication by an expected average weight of an article.

  • Patent number: 8218770
Abstract: Described embodiments provide a server for transferring data packets of streaming data sessions between devices. The server includes an accelerator that, for received data packets, i) extracts header fields of the packets, ii) determines, based on the header fields, a destination for the packets, and iii) provides the packets to the destination. For data to be transmitted, the accelerator i) groups the data into packets, ii) generates header fields for the packets, and iii) provides the packets to the network. A memory arbiter manages accesses to memory that buffers data and stores keys corresponding to the data sessions. A storage medium stores media files corresponding to the data sessions. A key manager includes i) a first memory for storing a master key of the server, ii) a second memory for storing one or more keys corresponding to the data sessions, and iii) a processor to encrypt and decrypt data.

  • Patent number: 7892762
Abstract: A method for aiding in differentiating irritable bowel syndrome from inflammatory bowel disease by determining the level of total endogenous human lactoferrin in clinical specimens, such as feces, mucus and bile, wherein an elevated level of lactoferrin substantially precludes diagnoses of IBS and other noninflammatory etiologies, and a kit usable in such method are provided. Further provided is a method for quantitating the level of total endogenous human lactoferrin in clinical specimens, such as feces, mucus and bile, to monitor gastrointestinal inflammation in persons having inflammatory bowel disease.

  • Patent number: 7785818
Abstract: A method for the differentiation of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) from irritable bowel disease (IBS) followed by distinguishing ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease from other gastrointestinal illnesses. This highly differential method first uses the presence of elevated lactoferrin as a marker of intestinal inflammation to differentiate IBD from IBS. Patients suspected of IBD are then analyzed for fecal anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies (ASCA) as an indicator of Crohn's disease and fecal anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) as an indicator of ulcerative colitis. IBD patients are further monitored for intestinal inflammation using fecal lactoferrin to evaluate the effectiveness of medical therapy and to predict relapse. The apparatus comprises either a qualitative enzyme-linked immunoassay or other immunoassay that utilizes antibodies specific to human immunoglobins for the measurement of total endogenous lactoferrin, ASCA and ANCA in human feces.

  • Patent number: 7510223
Abstract: A latch device is provided for an electrical enclosure. The latch device includes a latch plate which is movable between extended and retracted positions. In the extended position, the latch plate allows a door to be secured over an opening in the enclosure. In the retracted position, the latch plate permits unencumbered access to components and mounting structures within the enclosure, such as for removal of a mounting unit. The latching mechanism may bias the enclosure door to a closed position, while permitting movement of the door, without unlatching of the mechanism, during fault conditions within the enclosure, such as to permit the escape of hot gasses.
