  • Publication number: 20240366217
Abstract: A suture passer device for passing a length of suture through an object. The suture passer device includes a hollow tube having a proximal end and a curved distal tube portion extending to a distal end. The suture passer device also includes a handle attached to the proximal end of the hollow tube, an actuator on the handle movable between first, second, and third positions, and an internal arm within the curved distal tube portion and connected to the actuator. The internal arm is movable between first, second, and third configurations. When the actuator is in the first position, the internal arm extends out from the distal tube portion at an angle from the distal tube portion in the first configuration. When the actuator is in the second position, the internal arm is retracted within the distal tube portion in the second configuration.

  • Patent number: 11607243
Abstract: A system and method for cutting soft tissue with a retractable surgical cutting device (10). The device (10) includes a handle (12) having a first channel (24) extending therethrough and a switch (18) located thereon. The switch (18) is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. An actuator (26) with a blade (16) extends through the first channel (24) and connects to the switch (18) within the handle (12). An outer sheath (14) is connected to the handle (12) and surrounds the actuator (26) and at least a portion of the blade (16). A drive mechanism (28) is connected to the switch (18) within the handle (12) such that when the switch (18) moves from the retracted position to the extended position, the actuator (26) moves from a retracted position to an extended position. In the retracted position, the blade (16) can be entirely within the outer sheath (14) and in the extended position, at least a portion of the blade (16) is positioned outside of the outer sheath (14).

  • Patent number: 10792051
Abstract: An orthopedic drilling system having a collection chamber positioned between a drill guide and a drill bit proximately to the flute of the drill bit to evacuate debris and swarf from a drilling site. The drill bit may be cannulated to define a throughbore in communication with an irrigation inlet. The drill guide can reciprocate into and out of a hub and be connection to a suction source. The flute of the drill bit may have a first outer diameter that is larger than a second outer diameter of an intermediate portion of the drill bit positioned proximately to the flute to define the chamber between the drill bit and the drill guide. Alternatively, the drill guide may have a first inner diameter positioned about the flute of the drill bit and a second, larger inner diameter proximate to the flute to define the collection chamber.
