  • Publication number: 20250220361
Abstract: An apparatus comprises an audio transducer, and a control system. The audio transducer comprises a first electrically conductive element and a second electrically conductive element with an optional dielectric element disposed between them. The control system is configured to generate a voltage that is modulated in accordance with an audio signal, and apply the voltage to the audio transducer to cause an electric field to be generated between the first electrically conductive element and the second electrically conductive element, wherein the electric field causes acoustic sound pressure to be generated which reproduces sound corresponding to the audio signal. Arrays of the audio transducer may be configured to reside within earphones such as earbuds, on ear or over ear headsets, wherein the audio transducer arrays are configured to emulate a multi-speaker three-dimensional surround sound system.

  • Publication number: 20250184658
Abstract: Techniques are provided for generating sound using a speaker mounted to an enclosure (e.g., speaker cabinet) wherein a gas pressure level (e.g., air pressure level) inside the enclosure is lower than an ambient air pressure level outside the enclosure. The reduced gas pressure level within the enclosure provides an environment with a reduced pressure level at a back side of a speaker cone of the speaker, which enhances a low frequency response for a given speaker size, while also minimizing resonant frequencies and phase cancellation issues which could otherwise occur with conventional speaker systems in which acoustic sound waves are generated at the back side of the speaker cone. A pressure compensation system is utilized counteract a force applied to the front side of the speaker cone as a result of the gas pressure level inside the enclosure being lower than the ambient air pressure level outside the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 11425477
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided for recording high output power levels of sound at low sound pressure levels. For example, an apparatus comprises an enclosure, a speaker disposed within the enclosure, a microphone disposed within the enclosure, and an evacuation port. The evacuation port is configured to connect to a system that reduces a pressure level within the enclosure to a level that is less than an ambient air pressure level outside the enclosure. The enclosure is sealed or otherwise configured to provide a sealed enclosure, to maintain the reduced air pressure within the enclosure. The speaker can be driven by an amplifier at high output power levels to generate a distorted sound of an amplified electric musical instrument for recording purposes, while the reduced pressure level within the enclosure serves to attenuate the sound pressure level and perceived loudness which emanates from the speaker.
