  • Patent number: 11353443
Abstract: Methods of combining mineral composition and laboratory test results for reservoir rock samples to predict future responses to secondary and tertiary oil recovery treatments are disclosed. Particular, SEM and EDS will be combined to produce a mineral map, including mineral distribution around the rock's pore space, for comparison with laboratory data to predict and/or interpret how certain mineral distributions will respond to various fluid-rock interactions.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 7, 2022
    Assignee: ConocoPhillips Company
Inventors: James J. Howard, Gary Lovell
  • Patent number: 10633969
Abstract: One methods for in-situ characterization of a reservoir rock includes: (a) sealing an interval corresponding to a selected depth or depths within the subterranean formation; (b) injecting a displacement fluid into the interval, wherein the displacement fluid displaces a reservoir fluid stored in the reservoir rock; (c) monitoring movement of the displacement fluid or the reservoir fluid in the reservoir rock; and (d) assessing wettability of the reservoir rock based on (c) or determining recovery rate of the reservoir fluid.

  • Patent number: 7222673
Abstract: A method for releasing gas from a gas hydrate without melting the gas hydrate by substituting the gas with a releasing agent that forms a more stable hydrate structure than the gas.

  • Patent number: 6230382
Abstract: A method for assembling an aircraft includes determining a three-dimensional representation of a first aircraft structure and a second aircraft structure using an optical positioning device. A predicted mate of the first aircraft structure and the second aircraft structure is generated from the three-dimensional representation of the first and second aircraft structures using a processor. The method further includes adjusting the predicted mate of the first and second aircraft structures to enhance performance characteristics of the aircraft using the processor.

  • Patent number: 5338016
Abstract: A portable, adjustable vise for mounting on a tailgate of a truck. The vise has an elongated hollow support beam. An adjustable slide extends out of a first end of the beam and can be varied to change the length of the vise. A brace is formed on the exposed end of the slide and disposed to seat in the gap between the truck bed and tailgate. A positioning tab extends outwardly from the brace to position the brace in the gap. A mounting assembly is attached to a second end of the beam. The mounting assembly has a transverse elongated brace with an adjustable L-shaped bracket at the first end and an adjustable L-shaped bracket at the second end. The respective brackets are designed to engage the edge of the tailgate. An adjustable but fixed jaw is attached to the beam or slide adjacent the first end. A movable jaw is slidingly attached to the beam, opposite the fixed jaw. A threaded nut assembly is mounted on the beam adjacent the second end.
