    Abstract: A thermally stable solenoid including a heater coil and an inductive coil wound around the same axis. The current in the heater coil is controlled by the current in the inductive coil through a control circuit. The heater coil is energized in such a way as to ensure that the heat generated by both coils is constant throughout the required range of operation.
