  • Publication number: 20100014855
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed that detects the onset of failing optical subnetwork network elements and minimizes the volume of Performance Monitoring (PM) parameter data that must be acquired and trend across a provisioned path by monitoring digital (SONET/SDH) section PM parameter data first, which is used to trigger an examination to determine which optical subnetwork is experiencing degradation. Threshold Crossing Alerts (TCAs) are set for digital section PM parameter data and when a digital section PM parameter is greater than or equal to its TCA, the method identifies which subnetwork is degrading. Once a subnetwork is identified, analog PM parameter data is acquired for network elements employed in the identified subnetwork and determines from monitoring the network elements' analog PM parameter data the network element(s) that is degrading. A maintenance ticket is issued identifying the failing network element(s).

  • Publication number: 20090226174
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed that parses WDM subnetworks and collects TL1 Performance Monitoring (PM) parameter data from subnetwork network elements (NEs) and applies a set of comparisons to discover under-performing equipment according to predetermined operating thresholds. The comparisons examine NE pump laser baseline values, deviations, efficiency, tilt error, span loss and calculated expected optical power.

  • Patent number: 7131794
Abstract: A rotatable cutting tool has a cutting tool body having at least one recess for receiving a replaceable insert. The recess has a wall defined by a deformable clamp extending radially from the tool body, the clamp having a leaf isolated from the tool body except at the base of the leaf by an isolating channel in the tool body. The tool further has an adjustable leaf-bending element for elastically deforming the leaf to retain a replaceable insert in the recess.

  • Patent number: 6846136
Abstract: A rotatable cutting tool has a shank portion for coupling to a tool driving device and a cutting portion to which is attached at least one support member for retention of a replaceable cutting element. The support member is so arranged to permit displacement of at least the portion thereof retaining the cutting element whereby the position of the cutting element relative to the body of the cutting tool may be changed by such displacement. A totally enclosed hydraulic force multiplier is mounted within an internal cavity of the cutting tool. The force multiplier is responsive to a control force to effect the displacement of the support member, the control force advantageously supplied by application of pneumatic pressure.
