Abstract: The present invention is directed to a dye suitable for spectral sensitization of a photographic element. Abstract: A special group of zeromethine dyess which are desensitizers for sherical grain emulsions but which J-aggregate on tabular grains is described. Tabular emulsions containing these dyes are particularly useful as X-ray elements since the maximum emission peak of the dyes present therein closely matches the ouput of intensifying screens used therewith.

Abstract: Small amounts of radical traps resorcylaldehyde oxime and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and organic oxidants 2-chloro-5-nitrobenzylchloride, p-nitro-o-chlorobenzyl thiosulfate and 2-(p-nitrobenzyl)thiopyridinium bromide reduce the fog and stabilize the aging of medical X-ray emulsion with little or no effect on speed.
