  • Patent number: 6278974
Abstract: The present invention is related to a speech synthesizer which includes a sampled signal storing device storing therein a sampled signal and outputting the sampled signal in response to an input signal, and a speech signal synthesizing circuit electrically connected to the sampled signal storing device, receiving an operation signal, having the sampled signal outputted by the sampled signal storing device be repeatedly operated in response to the operation signal, and then outputting a speech synthesized signal, wherein a frequency of the operation signal is higher than that of the input signal to allow the sampled signal to be repeatedly operated during a single cycle of the input signal. The present invention proceeds a plurality of times of operation for each entry of data in the storing device so that the synthesizing performance of the present synthesizer can be improved without increasing the storage amount of the sampled signals.

  • Patent number: 5854594
Abstract: A remote controller for independently controlling a plurality of electric appliances includes a selector device for outputting a selected signal for controlling an electric appliance and a memory electrically connected to the selector device for storing a plurality of codes, such codes consisting of device codes, address codes, and function codes, wherein the device codes designate electric appliances of a particular type (such as TV's, VCR's audio sets, etc.), the address codes designate a specific appliance of the particular type (such as TV no.1, TV no. 2, ect.), and the function codes designate control of a function of the appliance (such as volume, picture contrast, color, etc.).

  • Patent number: 5659663
Abstract: A synthesizer includes a controller which generates an address signal in response to a trigger code corresponding to a sequence of a synthesis of a plurality of basic speech sections; a memory for storing sets of data corresponding to the sequence of the synthesis of the speech sections; a tone counter and a speech/melody generator which receives the data from the memory. In response to control signals from the controller and a tone control signal from the tone counter the speech/melody generator provides synthesized speech or melody mixing with each other in a selective manner.

  • Patent number: 5621692
Abstract: The invention provides a memory device having page select capability. The serial access memory device provided includes a first data terminal and a memory cell array having a plurality of address locations. The serial access memory device including a shift register, an address decode circuit and a page select device. The page select device, in response to the access control signal, the address clock signal and the clock signal, selectively stores a page number therein.

  • Patent number: 5526316
Abstract: The serial access memory device provided has a first data terminal and a memory cell array having a plurality of address locations. The serial access memory device comprises a shift register and an address decode circuit. The shift register, responsive to an address clock signal, stores a first address value of a serial access memory operation. The shift register has an input terminal coupled to the first data terminal. The address decode circuit serially accesses the plurality of address locations of the memory cell array, responsive to an access control signal, the first address value, the address clock signal and the clock signal.

  • Patent number: 5241647
Abstract: A method of establishing a clock for the UART circuit provided in a standard I/O card or a combined graphic and I/O card is disclosed. The essential step of the method of the invention is to directly impress the clock of the main board of a personal computer into the UART circuit of the I/O card thereby eliminating the need for an independent crystal for the UART circuit. In an alternative embodiment of the method according to the present invention, the clock for the graphic data processing circuit provided in a combined graphic and I/O card is impressed directly to the UART circuit provided in the same card. The method of establishing a clock in the I/O card also includes a step of processing the directly impressed clock, either from the main board of the personal computer or from the graphic data processing circuit, to obtain the desired clock for the UART circuit with a desired frequency.
