Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for providing copyright protection for creative works from within a running content-creating software application by assembling and submitting a copyright application on the creative work to the United States Copyright Office through the use of a portable application programming interface, which may be utilized by third-party content-creating applications. Additionally disclosed is a method and system of registering a creative work in order to memorialize the creation of the creative work from within a running content creating application through the use of a portable application programming interface, which may be utilized by third-party content-creating applications. Additionally disclosed is a method and system for accessing and sharing copyright-protected creative works through a web accessible software application.

Abstract: Systems and methods to secure authorized access are disclosed. A method includes receiving, an electronic device, a request to generate function-authorization settings including function-access data associated with a particular function of the electronic device to be protected. The method also includes prompting for and receiving function-access data. The received function-access data includes first function-access data that specifies access credentials of a first user to access the particular function and second function-access data that specifies access credentials of a second user to access the particular function. The method also includes associating the received function-access data with the particular function and storing the function-authorization settings including the received function-access data at a memory of the electronic device.

Abstract: A secure payment method includes receiving, at a computer of a payment service, a request from a requester for a one time use transaction identification token for a transaction. The one time use transaction identification token is provided from the payment service computer to the requester. The one time use transaction identification token is received at the payment service from a merchant communications apparatus under the control of a merchant. Electronic payment information for the transaction is issued from the payment service to the merchant upon validating the one time use transaction identification token.

Abstract: A system and method for processing a call to a destination associated with multiple group members in a unified messaging system by determining a prioritized order of the group members for presentation to caller and receiving a selection from the caller. The order of the group members can be determined based on call histories, address books, and distribution lists of the calling party and the group members of the destination. A weighted score is computed for each group member, and the group members are sorted based on the weighted scores. The sorted list of group members is then presented to the calling party for selection. Based on the calling party's selection the unified messaging system can further process the call.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the present disclosure is a method and apparatus for dynamically controlling Internet Protocol packet flows in a Voice over Internet Protocol network. In one embodiment, a method for controlling flows of packets in a network includes obtaining a list identifying at least one user element that is authorized to register with the network and dynamically configuring a manner in which at least one border element handles the packets in accordance with the list.

Abstract: A method for handling multiple call redirections in a voice messaging platform is provided that includes receiving a call at the voice messaging platform, wherein multiple, sequential redirecting numbers are associated with the call. The method also includes selecting a mailbox associated with a last number associated with the call when it is determined that the last number does not belong to a closed user group, and depositing a message in the selected mailbox. When the last number belongs to the closed user group, and if the closed user group does not allow individual call forwarding control, the method selects the mailbox based on a closed user group preference. An apparatus and a computer readable medium are provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides a composition for strengthening glass. The composition may incorporate one or more of a surfactant, a silane, and an adhesive resin. The composition may further incorporate one or more of a water-based solvent, a defoamer, a glycerol, and an alcohol. A strengthened glass laminate may be formed of a glass base and a coating made up of the glass strengthening composition. The strengthened glass laminate may further comprise a film The coating may adhere the film to the glass. A method for making a strengthened glass laminate may include providing a glass base and spraying the glass strengthening composition on the glass base. The present composition has the combined advantages of both optical clarity, high adhesion to glass, and dimensional stability.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to environmental remediation, and specifically to materials, systems, and methods for oil spill clean up. A system for oil spill containment incorporates an oil adsorbing material and bacterial nutrient material. The oil adsorbing material may be a polymeric material. The polymeric material may be one or more of a synthetic polymer and a natural product. Suitable synthetic polymers include polypropylene, polyethylene, polyurethane, polyester, and combinations thereof. The synthetic polymer may be recycled. Suitable natural produces include palm oil and beeswax. The bacterial nutrient may be organic or inorganic. A suitable organic bacterial nutrient is bee pollen. Suitable inorganic bacterial nutrients include nitrates and phosphates. A method for containing oil in an oil spill at a location incorporates applying the oil spill containment system to the oil and removing the oil and the oil spill containment system from the location.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a synergistic multilayer anti-corrosion resistant coating for a metal surface, the coating having three subcoatings, a) a self assembled monolayer nanoprimer; b) a polymeric primer; c) a polymeric top coat containing microcapsules for self-healing. The present invention is further direction to systems and methods for producing the coating in situ on the metal surface. The present invention provides an economical, non-epoxy-based, corrosion coating having favorable resistance to acid and to salt water, and having favorable adhesion properties.

The present invention is directed to a system and method for protecting a pipe. In some embodiments, the present invention is directed to a system for protecting a pipe, comprising an energy absorbing inner matrix bound to the pipe; an outer wrap comprising fire resistant foil; and a blast resistant material disposed between the inner matrix and the outer wrap, wherein the blast resistant material comprises Purlite. In some embodiments, the present invention is directed to a method for protecting a pipe comprises binding an energy absorbing inner matrix to the pipe; disposing Purlite around the inner matrix; and wrapping the Purlite with fire resistant foil.

Abstract: A technique for scheduling conferences includes receiving a conference request, which includes an invitee list, a prioritized list of preferred media types, and one or more times for a conference associated with the conference request. The conference is requested with respective invitees associated with the invitee list (via respective subscriber terminals) and it is determined whether the respective invitees can be scheduled for the conference. The conference is scheduled between a conference requester (associated with the conference request) and available ones of the respective invitees, when mandatory attendees, included within the respective invitees, are available.

Abstract: Facsimile transcoding is dynamically invoked for devices that do not support T.38 fax protocol. In this way, a unified messaging platform can process facsimiles from endpoints that are not T.38 capable without using without digital signal processor resources. Dynamic fax transcoding can be performed at a session border controller, allowing transcoding resources to be engaged only for non-T.38 endpoints rather than for all calls on an interface.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a communication device having a controller adapted to establish communications with a voicemail system over a Public Switched Telephone Network port of the communication device, receive from the voicemail system by way of a broadband port of the communication device an invitation to switch to a video call over the broadband port, transmit a Session Initiation Protocol message to establish video communications with the voicemail system, and transmit to the voicemail system a video message to be recorded by the voicemail system as a video voicemail message. An example method involves querying a gateway node cache in response to a first broadcast probe received at a node of a wireless Internet-based network. When the gateway node cache identifies a first gateway node, a first response is selectively sent to nodes that participated in a search flood associated with the first broadcast probe.

Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to an apparatus including a housing and a slot disposed in the housing, the slot configured to hold an input device in a plurality of upright configurations including at least a forward-facing upright configuration such that the input device faces the front portion of the housing, and at least a backward-facing upright configuration such that the input device faces the back portion of the housing. The slot can be overmolded with a rubber compound (e.g. silicon-based) and configured to provide an improved coefficient of friction to reduce slippage of the input device when held in the slot. In some aspects, the housing includes a surface, and the overmolded portion of the slot can protrude above the surface of the housing.
