The token server can be configured to transfer virtual tokens to and from accounts associated with a plurality of users. The token server can be accessible by one or more electronic devices in communication with the token server via a network. At least one virtual token can be transferred from an account associated with a first user of the token server to an account associated with a second user of the token server based upon a request received from the first user of the token server via an electronic device. The transferred virtual token can be associated, for example, with a popularity rating of the user receiving the virtual token.
