  • Patent number: 9745674
Abstract: Spun yarns, fabrics, and garments with a balance of high thermal and comfort properties are disclosed. Spun yarns made with an intimate blend of fibers including flame resistant fiber, hydrophilic fibers, and anti-static fibers are described. The unique combination of fibers in the spun yarn and fabrics made therefrom provide a balance of high thermal properties, including flame resistance and thermal shrinkage resistance, as well as moisture management properties to provide both protection and comfort to the wearer. In addition, a spun yarn and fabric made therefrom may be dye accepting and/or can be printed thereon. In one embodiment, printable or dye accepting aramid fiber, or producer dyed meta-aramid is utilized in the spun yarn. A fabric made with the spun yarn may have pre-wash softness that makes it comfortable to wear.

  • Patent number: 9603398
Abstract: A garment, such as a jacket, having extensible sleeves, is described. The garment has an outer layer comprising a torso portion having two armholes, two sleeve portions, and an optional collar portion. An action back configuration enables the sleeves to extend. An action back has a flange of material at least partially tucked within each of the armholes. An elastic connector couples the two flanges and extends across the back portion of the garment. When a person reaches forward the flanges extend to provide additional material for the extension of the sleeve. In addition, the two sleeves are configured with a gusset having two substantially linear sides connected to the sleeve and a curvilinear side coupled to the armhole. The gusset may have a cut to allow the gusset to stretch. The sleeves comprise a cuff having a thumbhole for maintaining the cuff over the thumb of a wearer.

  • Patent number: 9034777
Abstract: Optionally dyed woven fabrics and garments are disclosed that exhibit fire resistance, arc resistance, moisture management (water release rate and wicking), and abrasion resistance without the undesirable addition of topical treatments. Certain embodiments of the woven fabric are disclosed that comprise a plurality of weft yarns comprising a blend of fibers with inherently fire resistant fibers with superior moisture management properties and a plurality of warp yarns, optionally dyed, comprising cellulose derivatives. The woven fabrics are particularly useful in denim work clothes because they are comfortable to wear and exhibit fire resistance and abrasion resistance.

  • Publication number: 20140187113
Abstract: Fiber blends useful for garments with a balance of high thermal and comfort properties are disclosed. The fiber blends comprise a FR fiber component, a comfort fiber component, a structural fiber component, and an optional antistatic fiber. Yarns, fabrics, and garments comprising the fiber blends are also disclosed. Such garments are particularly useful for occupations requiring high thermal properties, such as oil and gas workers, fire fighters, utility workers, and military personnel, without compromising comfort of the wearers by maintaining breathability and moisture management properties of the fabric.
