  • Patent number: 8152898
Abstract: Helium is recovered from gas streams containing high concentrations of hydrogen gas and low concentrations of helium gas, such as from the recycle stream from the production of ammonia. The inventive process provides for an integrated process for the recovery of both an enriched helium gas stream product and a high purity hydrogen gas stream product.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 1, 2009
Date of Patent: April 10, 2012
    Assignee: Praxair Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Ravi Prasad, Carl Joseph Heim, James Joseph Maloney

  • Patent number: 6205813
Abstract: A natural gas purification system which can produce both fuel and high purity hydrocarbon product such as high purity methane or high purity natural gas wherein high temperature carbon dioxide removal is followed by cryogenic rectification to produce fuel and high purity hydrocarbon product.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 1, 1999
Date of Patent: March 27, 2001
    Assignee: Praxair Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Minish Mahendra Shah, James Joseph Maloney, Raymond Francis Drnevich
  • Patent number: 5787730
Abstract: A process and a system for producing helium from a helium-bearing feed gas that is purified in a cryogenic processing unit to produce cryogenic crude helium containing at least 10% helium. The cryogenic crude helium is directly introduced into a thermal swing helium refinery where it is refined. Refrigeration is supplied to the refinery by the cryogenic crude helium from the cryogenic processing unit.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 23, 1996
Date of Patent: August 4, 1998
    Assignee: Praxair Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Carl Joseph Heim, James Joseph Maloney
  • Patent number: 5771714
Abstract: The production of higher purity helium wherein a feed comprising helium, nitrogen and hydrocarbons is processed in a system comprising two columns operating at different pressure levels, with the product helium produced in the higher pressure column and nitrogen and hydrocarbons cycled to the lower pressure column.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 1, 1997
Date of Patent: June 30, 1998
    Assignee: Praxair Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Rae Lynn Emley, James Joseph Maloney
  • Patent number: 5638698
Abstract: A system for processing nitrogen-containing effluent from an industrial process wherein the effluent is cooled and liquid nitrogen is added directly to the cooled effluent. The direct contact and heat exchange produces gaseous nitrogen and liquid organics which are both used to cool the effluent and are subsequently recovered.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 22, 1996
Date of Patent: June 17, 1997
    Assignee: Praxair Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Mary Anne Knight, James Joseph Maloney
