  • Publication number: 20220389294
Abstract: Bonding dissimilar materials of medical device components can be carried out by applying an adhesive on at least one surface of two components which are composed of dissimilar materials and contacting the surfaces and exposing the contacted surfaces to heat and/or irradiate the adhesive to cure the adhesive and bond the surfaces. One medical component, e.g., medical tubing, can be composed of a non-polar, polyvinyl chloride free thermoplastic polymeric material and the other medical component, e.g., a medical connector, can be composed of polyacrylate, polyacrylonitrile, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), methyl methacrylate-acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (mABS), polyester, and/or a polycarbonate material. The adhesive formulation can include: (a) a polyolefin oligomer having reactive acrylate groups and alkenyl groups, (b) an initiator, and optionally (c) a solvent.

  • Patent number: 9827722
Abstract: A method for forming a roll core for use in an electrophotographic image forming device according to one example embodiment includes shaping the roll core from a mixture of an uncured elastomer and hollow microparticles. The elastomer of the shaped roll core is cured without permanently expanding hollow microparticles positioned near the outer surface of the shaped roll core. After curing, the hollow microparticles positioned near the outer surface of the shaped roll core are permanently expanded to form the roll core having compressible and resiliently recoverable hollow microparticles extending beyond an outer circumference of the roll core and providing a surface texture to the roll core.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 28, 2017
    Assignee: Lexmark International, Inc.

  • Patent number: 8522438
Abstract: A method for making a developer roll by molding a metal shaft with a conductive or semi-conductive soft rubber forming a rubber core and a coating deposited on the soft rubber core wherein the coating has a conductive agent. The outer surface of the soft rubber core is modified to form an —OH rich surface layer before the coating is deposited onto the outer surface of the rubber core to chemically bond therein.

  • Patent number: 8500616
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to controlling a performance characteristic of an image forming device component having a surface which may include removal of a portion of the surface to expose a plurality of voids and a surface between the voids. The surface between the voids may have a surface roughness Ra in the range of 0.1 to 5.0 microns and the relationship SAV/(SAV+SAC) is equal to 1-50%, where SAV is the surface area of the voids and SAC is the remaining surface area of the component. The performance characteristic may include the control of toner mass conveyed and/or toner filming and/or the amount of residual toner removed from a photoconductive surface.

  • Publication number: 20120190518
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a roll. The method includes positioning a shaft for the roll within a mold, introducing flowable material into the mold from a first end thereof, rotating the shaft at least about 20 revolutions, and following introducing the flowable material into the mold and rotating the shaft, curing the material at an elevated temperature. The method substantially reduces or otherwise eliminates weld lines and flow lines in the manufactured roll.
