  • Patent number: 8632135
Abstract: A wheel has a hub, a rim, first and second supports supporting the rim around the hub, and a spinner rotatably mounted around the hub between the first and second supports. A spinner locking mechanism may be used to selectively lock the spinner to prevent rotation of the spinner with respect to the first and second supports, or unlock the spinner to allow rotation of the spinner relative to the first and second supports.

  • Patent number: 7882877
Abstract: A combination wheel and valve assembly has a plurality of spokes each having at least one aperture through a rim-end thereof. A rim has an inner surface and a spoke mating element opposite the inner surface. A plurality of through-holes extend through the spoke mating element of the rim. A plurality of bolts are shaped to fit through the aperture of the rim-end of each of the spokes, and into one of the plurality of through-holes of the spoke mating element, to fasten each spoke to the rim. A conduit extends through the inner surface of the rim to one of the through-holes of the rim, such that a valve assembly can extend through the aperture of one of the spokes and engage the through-hole having the conduit, thereby enabling fluid flow through the valve assembly and the conduit to the inner surface of the rim.

  • Patent number: 7427110
Abstract: A wheel has a first support having a first axis, a second support having a second axis, a rim having a third axis, and a spinner assembly having a fourth axis. The first and second supports support the rim, and the spinner assembly is rotatably mounted between the first and second supports, such that the first, second, third, and fourth axes are aligned. The wheel further includes a spinner locking mechanism for locking the spinner assembly with the first and/or second supports.

  • Patent number: 6964454
Abstract: A wheel is disclosed including a first support having a first axis, a second support having a second axis, a rim having a third axis and two opposed side surfaces, and a spinner assembly having a fourth axis. The first and second supports are connected to different ones of the side surfaces of the rim, and the spinner assembly is rotatably mounted between the first and second supports, such that the first, second, third, and fourth axes are aligned. A method for assembling the wheel is also described.

  • Publication number: 20020149257
Abstract: A spoke and hub assembly has a wheel rim, a hub, and a plurality of spokes. The hub is positioned within and coaxially aligned with wheel rim, and includes a plurality of spoke locking bores. The plurality of spokes are together adapted to interconnect between the hub and a wheel rim to retain the hub coaxially disposed with respect to the wheel rim. Each of the plurality of spokes includes a locking portion extending from a hub engaging face of an anchor head of each of the plurality of spokes. The locking portion is shaped to lockingly engage a locking slot of a head engaging face of each of a plurality of spoke locking bores. When the locking portion is seated in the locking slot, the locking portion prevents rotation of the spoke with respect to the hub.

  • Patent number: 5584537
Abstract: A wheel spinner nut adapter for a wheel assembly, the wheel assembly being of the type that utilizes a hub adapter, the hub adapter being of the type which has a first end for engaging a wheel and a wheel axle assembly, and a second end with external threads which are typically used for engagement with internal threads of a wheel spinner. The wheel spinner nut adapter of the present invention includes a first hollow end portion and a second end portion. The first hollow end portion includes a substantially smooth outer surface being tapered on at least a section thereof. The outer surface has a circular cross section. A threaded inner surface of the first hollow end portion has a circular cross section and substantially constant diameter. The threaded inner surface is for engagement with external threads on a second end of the hub adapter.
