Abstract: A device and system for purifying a fluid is provided. The system includes a tank having an interior space and a media container disposed within the interior space. A valve is provided that cooperates with an element within the interior, the valve being movable between an open and a closed position. The valve being biased to the open position when the element is not positioned within the interior space, wherein the interior space is fluidly coupled to the atmosphere in the open position. The valve further being configured to move to a closed position when the element is positioned within the interior space.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a surgical instrument having a locking device which locks the instrument in a closed position while bearing a load. The surgical instrument, which may function as forceps, or a tanaculum, is constructed of a disposable material in order to provide a single use medical instrument. By constructing the invention of a disposable material, the unique shape of the disclosed embodiment allows movement of the arms in order to allow tip penetration along the path of least resistance while also minimizing tissue damage and bleeding. The locking device described may further be used on other instruments.

Abstract: A stereophonic loudspeaker system which includes at least two channel loudspeakers and a centrally located feedback control loudspeaker. Each channel loudspeaker incorporates an electrically driven low frequency electrosonic transducer and a sonically driven electrosonic transducer sonically coupled together to form a sonic oscillator. The sonically driven transducer responds to sound and sonic vibrations produced by the electrically driven transducer to produce sounds and an electrical output signal. The feedback control amplifier includes a plurality of electrosonic transducers interconnected sonically and electrically. The transducers of the feedback control loudspeaker respond to the electrical signals from the sonically driven transducers of the channel loudspeakers to interactively enhance the production of aurally pleasing low frequency sound from the loudspeaker system.
