  • Patent number: 4403011
Abstract: A process for treating wool containing materials to prevent or reduce felting shrinkage comprises applying to the material in two separate steps a first polymer which is (A) a dialkyl polysiloxane diol containing aminoalkyl groups, or (B) a poly(alkylene oxide) polythiol, and a second polymer which is (A) a dialkyl polysiloxanediol containing aminoalkyl groups or (C) a polyamide, the second polymer being different from the first polymer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 9, 1981
Date of Patent: September 6, 1983
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy Corporation
Inventors: James K. Skelly, George C. Philpott
  • Patent number: 4370144
Abstract: A process of dyeing textile fibres in which the fibre is contacted with a two-phase suspension comprising an active solvent containing dissolved dye and the necessary amount of a bulking inert substantially immiscible solvent, the active solvent under the conditions of dyeing being liquid, is a solvent for the dye, is insoluble or only slightly soluble in the inert solvent, and in which the fixation affinity of the fibre for the dye is greater than that of the active solvent for the dye at the temperature required for the fixation, wherein the dye used is in the form of an aqueous, stable, highly concentrated, finely dispersed, flowable preparation insoluble to difficultly soluble in water containing at least 25% of finely dispersed dyestuff, at most 10% of an anion-active dispersing agent, at most 5% of a non-ionic dispersing agent and from 0 to 35% of a hydrotropic agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 4, 1980
Date of Patent: January 25, 1983
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy Corporation
Inventors: James K. Skelly, David G. Evans, Carl Becker
  • Patent number: 4348203
Abstract: A process for dyeing textile fibres which comprises contacting the fibre with an active solvent containing dissolved dye in admixture with the necessary amount of a bulking inert substantially immiscible solvent, the active solvent under the conditions of dyeing being liquid, a solvent for the dye, insoluble or only slightly soluble in the inert solvent, and in which the fixation affinity of the fibre for the dye is greater than that of the active solvent for the dye at the temperature required for fixation.

Date of Patent: September 7, 1982
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy Corporation
Inventors: James K. Skelly, David G. Evans, Barrie Broadbent
