  • Publication number: 20230383527
Abstract: Gaps between adjacent members in a building construction are sealed by applying a self-adhering barrier sheet to the adjacent members to span the gap. The self-adhering barrier sheet includes a flexible sheet of a barrier material. The flexible sheet has opposing edges, of which at least one is tapered. A pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to at least a portion of at least one major surface of the flexible sheet. The edges of the self-adhering barrier sheet are adhered to the adjacent structural elements by means of the pressure sensitive adhesive. The pressure sensitive adhesive has a thickness equal to or less than the maximum thickness of the flexible sheet. Where two self adhering barrier sheets overlap at an angle on a substrate, the tapered edge of the underlying sheet allows a smooth transition for the overlapping sheet, preventing the formation of an open gap between the barrier sheets and the substrate where air and moisture can penetrate.

  • Publication number: 20070196610
Abstract: A self-adhesive laminate with an emissivity of no greater than about 0.40 made of a sheet layer having first and second outer surfaces, the sheet layer comprising at least one layer selected from the group consisting of nonwoven fabrics, woven fabrics, nonwoven fabric-film laminates, woven fabric-film laminates, films, paper-film laminates, and composites thereof with at least one multi-layer coating on said first outer surface of the sheet layer, said multi-layer coating comprising a first metal coating layer adjacent the first outer surface of the sheet layer; and an outer organic coating layer of a composition containing a material selected from the group consisting of organic polymers, organic oligomers, compounds, and combinations thereof, deposited on the metal layer; and with an adhesive layer coating the second outer surface of the sheet layer and wherein the sheet layer coated with said multilayer coating is creped.

  • Publication number: 20060137262
Abstract: An elongated flange material for forming a flange and a method for use in sealing a non-flanged window, door, or other fenestration product in a wall opening, wherein the flange material comprises at least one top coversheet and at least one bottom coversheet with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer sandwiched between the two coversheets, wherein the coversheets occupy an appreciable width of the flange but do not extend across the entire width of the flange and thereby are offset with respect to each other thereby providing opposing first and second exposed surfaces of the pressures sensitive adhesive layer.

  • Publication number: 20060130426
Abstract: An air infiltration blocking skirt comprising a weather resistant sheet material is attached to the lower portion of a window to be installed in a wall opening the full width of the opening and sufficiently long to extend over the wall immediately below the window. The skirt is sealed to the wall along both the left and right sides of the skirt while the bottom edge remains unsealed. The skirt prevents wind-driven rain and air from penetrating the window-wall interface while allowing moisture to drain therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20060083898
Abstract: A flexible, self-adhering stretchable material with improved stretch and recovery properties is provided as a flashing for use in building openings such as windows. The material includes a microcreped topsheet and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The material extends to the desired length at a low applied force and recovers a low to moderate amount, making it particularly suited for use in the lower corners of window openings.

  • Publication number: 20050178079
Abstract: A device for installation in an opening in a structure, wherein the device is made of a receptacle and a fenestration product and the receptacle is adapted for substantially permanent installation in the opening by securing to the opening and wherein the receptacle is adapted to match with the fenestration product for installation in the receptacle such that moisture intrusion into the structure is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4715200
Abstract: A locking device to be usable in conjunction with a deadlock type of locking apparatus mounted in conjunction with a door. The locking device of this invention is to be attached in a fixed manner to the handle of the deadlock locking apparatus with there being an elongated bar section that is to abut against the conventional doorknob of the door. Any unauthorized turning of the deadlock handle will be prevented since a deadlock handle is constrained due to the elongated bar portion abutting against the doorknob. The locking device of this invention includes a bracket section which is to be movable to accommodate to different positions of deadlock handles.
