  • Publication number: 20240127361
Abstract: A central claims adjuster control unit associated with an entity may oversee the assignment of claims cases to claims adjusters. The control unit may designate that a threshold number of cases may be assigned to certain claims adjusters. When new claims cases arrive, the control unit may monitor the workload of each of the claims adjusters and the threshold value assigned to any of the claims adjusters before assigning the case to one of the adjusters. If no adjuster is available, the control unit may store the case(s) in a memory until one of the adjusters becomes available. An additional feature of the control unit includes a user interface for modifying information about claims adjusters, including whether or not a threshold value is associated with them, the value of any associated threshold, and the reassignment of cases from one adjuster to another.

  • Publication number: 20230267020
Abstract: There is provided a computer-implemented method of communication between a plurality of processes, each process being responsible for a region of a space, and each process maintaining a routing tree, each node of the routing tree representing a respective one of the plurality of processes and containing an indication of the represented process and an indication of an associated region for which the represented process is responsible. The method comprises: receiving, by a first process, a message addressed to a target region of the space; determining, by the first process and using the routing tree of the first process, a set of subregions of the target region and associated processes; and for each of the determined subregions in the set, sending the message from the first process to the process associated with the determined subregion in the set.

  • Patent number: 10855287
Abstract: Various embodiments include providing a MTJ-based LUT and adding a system that short circuits or causes dielectric layer breakdown of selected MTJ junctions to permanently finalize a desired logic state configuration of selected MTJs that is read out by the LUT. Additional embodiments disable dielectric layer breakdown or short circuit control circuits to prevent further alterations to MTJ that have not had their dielectric layers broken down or shorted out. A control system then alters reading out the MTJ-based LUT to sense original higher and lower resistance values of un-shorted/altered MTJs as a higher resistance state and a shorted or dielectric layer that has been broken down as a lower resistance state. This combines the flexibility of a multiple-time programmable LUT-based FPGA with the security and reliability of a one-time programmable LUT-based FPGA which has characteristics of a fixed logic non-programmable integrated circuit or application specific integrated circuit (ASIC).

  • Patent number: 9548867
Abstract: A method and apparatus to securely distribute embedded firmware to a module in an industrial control system is disclosed. A security certificate corresponding to the firmware is generated utilizing a proprietary algorithm. The certificate includes an identifier corresponding to the module on which the firmware is to be loaded and an identifier corresponding to a removable medium on which the firmware is distributed. The removable medium is inserted into the module in the industrial control system on which the firmware is to be loaded. The module reads the security certificate and verifies that the firmware is intended for the module and verifies that the security certificate includes the identifier for the removable medium which was inserted into the module. If the firmware is intended for the module and the security certificate includes the identifier for the removable medium, the module loads the firmware from the removable medium.

  • Patent number: 9473439
Abstract: Messages having a reputation score higher than at least one message already on a queue are added to the queue when the queue has already reached the predetermined maximum permitted size. One or more messages having a low reputation score may be discarded from a bottom of the queue in favor of a new incoming message having a higher reputation score. This may be particularly useful in the context of Internet e-mail, wherein mail delivery protocols (i.e. SMTP) allow a connection for an incoming message to be held open for a limited time period and during this period the message processing apparatus does not assume responsibility for onward transmission of the message. Thus, the message processing apparatus is able to selectively accept only those messages having a highest reputation score for detailed analysis, without adversely affecting the operations performed by other parts of the electronic messaging system.

  • Patent number: 8881277
Abstract: A method and system are described for collecting addresses for remotely accessible information sources. Messages, such as emails, carried by a messaging network (N1) are intercepted before reaching a destined terminal. Addresses for remotely accessible information sources (i.e. URLs) are identified from the intercepted email messages. The messages are analyzed to be classified as either a first type of message (e.g. spam or virus messages) or a second, different, type of message. If the intercepted message is classified as the first spam/virus type then data indicative of the identified address (URL) is transmitted to a filtering system (100) which controls access to the remotely accessible information sources. As a result, addresses (URLs) are gleaned from transmitted messages such as spam e-mail and supplied to a filtering system (100) which controls access to the resources accessible at those addresses.

  • Patent number: 8244817
Abstract: A message processing apparatus (200) is provided in an electronic messaging system. The message processing apparatus (200) holds an ordered queue (232) of the electronic messages (101) and adds a new incoming message (101) to the queue (232) according to a reputation score (201) allocated to each incoming message. Messages having a highest reputation score (201) are extracted from a top of the queue (232) for detailed analysis according to one or more filtering mechanisms. A message forwarding unit (250) forwards wanted messages to a server unit (300) for onward transmission to a recipient terminal (20). Messages from a trusted client identity (105) who is most likely to send wanted messages are allocated a high reputation score (201) and take priority through the queue (232). Messages from a non-trusted client identity (105) are allocated a lower reputation score (201) and remain in the queue (232) until all messages with a higher reputation score (201) have been extracted.
