    Abstract: A method and apparatus to securely distribute embedded firmware to a module in an industrial control system is disclosed. A security certificate corresponding to the firmware is generated utilizing a proprietary algorithm. The certificate includes an identifier corresponding to the module on which the firmware is to be loaded and an identifier corresponding to a removable medium on which the firmware is distributed. The removable medium is inserted into the module in the industrial control system on which the firmware is to be loaded. The module reads the security certificate and verifies that the firmware is intended for the module and verifies that the security certificate includes the identifier for the removable medium which was inserted into the module. If the firmware is intended for the module and the security certificate includes the identifier for the removable medium, the module loads the firmware from the removable medium.

The messages are analyzed to be classified as either a first type of message (e.g. spam or virus messages) or a second, different, type of message. If the intercepted message is classified as the first spam/virus type then data indicative of the identified address (URL) is transmitted to a filtering system (100) which controls access to the remotely accessible information sources.     Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a system and methods for filtering electronic messages having data therein identifying a link to a remote processing system. One embodiment provides a method which includes interrupting the transmission of the electronic message, identifying a link within the electronic message, and analyzing the electronic message on the basis of at least one of an attribute of the link and of at least an attribute intrinsic to the received electronic message so as to classify the message as either a suspect message or acceptable message. The method further includes modifying the electronic message so as to replace the link with an alternative network location corresponding to a remote processing system different from that corresponding to the link if the message is classified as a suspect message. The method further includes transmitting the electronic message unmodified if the message is classified as an acceptable message.
