Abstract: A method for displaying information related to a chaotic event. A mathematical optimization algorithm is used to select an optimal decision set for a user. The mathematical optimization algorithm takes as input a decision template, chaotic event information regarding a chaotic event, and a user profile. The optimal decision set is displayed for the user.

Abstract: Method, system, and program product for configuring and using a federated database management system. The design of the metadata and queries includes the steps of first determining schema and metadata configurations of the data source servers. The next step is enumerating available resources, and enumerating security and confidentiality requirements. These are used for calculating an optimal federated database management system design based on the schema and metadata, the enumerated available resources, and the enumerated security and confidentiality requirements; and designing an optimal federated database management system.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for storing, organizing and/or manipulating cohort based information associated with a research study. Project information associated with a first project is received at an interface of a computer database environment. The project information associated with the first project includes cohort information associated with one or more cohorts of the first project and patient information associated with members of the one or more cohorts of the first project. A first virtual project drawer is generated associated with the first project to be stored in the computer database environment. The first virtual project drawer includes the project information associated with the first project, at least one cohort file and/or at least two cohort member files.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for providing a level of anonymity to patient records/information. A unique user identification (ID) associated with a current user is received at an interface of a computer database environment. A first role code associated with a first role of the current user is received at the interface of the computer database environment. The current user is allowed access to a defined set of patient records/information in the computer database environment. The defined set of patient records/information being defined based on the user ID and the first role code of the current user.

Abstract: Methods, data structures, systems and computer program products are provided for identifying patterns in available healthcare related data. A triggering observation in the available healthcare related data is hierarchically related to at least one additional observation in the available healthcare related data based on a possible relationship between the triggering observation and the at least one additional observation in a computer database environment.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for synthesizing medical procedure information stored in healthcare databases are provided. A medical procedure query associated with a single patient or a group of patients is received. Query results are provided responsive to the medical procedure query. The query results may include medical procedures from multiple sources that are expressed in multiple standards formats.

Abstract: A system and method for encoding and then identifying a growth media from among a plurality of different growth media. A method is disclosed that includes: providing a set of tagging agents that are distinct from each of the different growth media; adding to each different growth media a unique subset of the tagging agents selected from the set of tagging agents in order to encode each different growth media; and determining an identity of one of the different growth media by detecting an existence of each tagging agent in the set of tagging agents.

Abstract: Method, system, and program product for managing research grants. This is done by capturing at least one grant description into a database. Next one or more of researcher capability, researcher availabilities, and research subject availabilities are entered into the database. The grant description is then text mined to identify matches between the grant descriptions and the data items. Then a gain is defined and determined for each such match. This gain is then tabulated.

A triggering security event is hierarchically related to at least one additional security event based on a possible relationship between the triggering security event and the at least one additional security event in a computer database environment.

Abstract: Methods of organizing medical data can include hierarchically relating a single type of medical or research event to medical data generated from the single type of medical or research event in a computer database environment. Organizing the data in this way may enable a researcher to access medical data collected as part of a medical procedure performed on a large number of patients, but at different times. For example, the medical data may be viewed in a more hierarchical fashion, thereby enabling the researcher to further investigate potential relationships between other factors. Related systems, computer program products and data structures are also disclosed.
