    Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a slave Set-Top Box (STB) receiver having a controller adapted to transmit a request for presentation to a master STB receiver to present one or more media content items stored in the master media STB receiver, select one among the one or more media content items presented by the master STB receiver, transmit to the master STB receiver a request for transmission of a select one of the one or more media content items, and receive from the master STB receiver the requested media content item in a progressive download format so that a portion of the requested media content item can be presented by the slave STB receiver while the remainder of the requested media content item is transmitted.
