  • Patent number: 7607276
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system for covering and protecting substantially tall poles. The apparatus includes a covering layer positionable over at least a portion of the exterior of a pole. The covering layer is non-corrosive and preferably impact and tear resistant. In one aspect of the invention, the covering layer is a sheet of material dimensioned to wrap around a corresponding part of the pole. A bracket can be used to secure the opposite adjacent edges of the wrap. Hardware can be used to secure the wrap from longitudinal movement along the pole. The wrap can be colored, textured, or patterned.

  • Patent number: 6398392
Abstract: An apparatus and method for quick and easy attachment of ballast boxes to a pole by easy mounting brackets, and which also communication with the interior of the pole to allow easy electrical connection of its components. A mounting bracket allows connection of the ballast box to the pole but also allows the box to be adjusted in multiple directions relative to the pole to align openings in the box and pole. The entire assembly can be shipped on sight and quickly and easily assembled without intensive labor, equipment, or cost.

  • Patent number: 6340790
Abstract: A device and method for rigidly elevating a structure includes a base member securable in the ground and which has a portion extending above the ground. A pole section, having a bore inside a lower end, and an upper end, can be stacked upon the base member upwardly by slip fitting the pole section onto the base end and securing it in place. A flexible, easily transportable and durable system is thereby created for elevating structures. An integrated pole for elevating light fixtures and all other necessary components such as electrical components, can be predesigned, shipped, and easily installed at a desired location. A pole top member, including rigidly secured cross arms, can be inserted on the top of a pole. All wiring for both the pole top cross arms, and the pole itself can be preconfigured and require simple connection of plugs between wiring segments.

  • Patent number: 4729077
Abstract: A variable beam width lighting device including a luminaire assembly having a luminaire fixture to which are operatively mounted a reflector and a lamp and to which is operatively supplied electrical power to produce a light beam. An adjustable lamp positioning means is mounted between the lamp and the luminaire fixture. The adjustable lamp positioning means is responsive to a power means to move the lamp relative to the reflector to vary the width of the light beam between a narrow beam and a wide beam according to choice. The reflecting properties of the reflector are varied to produce smooth transition characteristics when the beam width is changed.

  • Patent number: 4712167
Abstract: A mobile, variable effect lighting device including a mobile base platform to which is mounted an adjustably positionable and extendable boom. A lighting array frame having one or more luminaire assembly units is hingeably mounted to the outer end of the boom. Each luminaire assembly unit, in turn, is individually vertically and horizontally adjustable. Appropriate motor or power mechanisms are operably connected to the luminaire assembly units, the lighting array frame, and the boom to allow automatic and remote adjustability and operation of these components. A control circuitry is operatively connected to the luminaire assembly units and the motor or power mechanisms and has a control unit by which a remote operator can control operation of luminaire assembly units, and their orientation with respect to a target area.

  • Patent number: 4423471
Abstract: A mobile lighting unit which includes a plurality of lighting fixtures, each utilizing high-wattage, high-intensity lamps. The fixtures comprise a socket and hemispherical reflector assembly which are vertically and horizontally adjustably mounted to a lighting rack by an adjustable elbow member. The lamps are positioned in said fixtures so that their longitudinal axis is parallel to the light beam formed by the reflector, requiring one end of the lamp to be inserted in the socket and the other end to extend to the center of the hemispherical reflector. The lamps are cooled by pressurized air produced by a fan and transported through air tight channels in the lighting rack. The lamps are shock-dampened by mounting their socket end to a metal spring located on the interior wall of the socket and by attaching wires to the front end of the lamp, which are in turn attached to metal springs on the interior surface of the reflector. Thus, the lamp is fully shock absorber protected.

  • Patent number: 4190881
Abstract: A preassembled and prewired crossarm assembly of high intensity discharge luminaries mountable on a light pole. The assembly includes an elongate, tubular bar that is supported on a ballast-receiving box attachable to the light pole so that the weight of the ballast box is centered on the pole. Members are employed for adjustably mounting the luminaries from the tubular bar in a spaced apart relation. Each mounting member has a wire-receiving passage means in communication with the interior of the tubular bar and an associated luminary, and aligned openings are formed in the bar and the ballast box for the disposition of electrically conductive wiring that connects the luminaries to the ballasts.
