  • Patent number: 6431930
Abstract: A boat having a propulsion system and a station containing throttle, shift and cruise controls at some distance from the propulsion system. The throttle, shift and cruise control elements generate electrical signals which are transmitted to a electronic control unit in the propulsion system. The electronic control unit controls the fuel injection and the ignition of fuel for the propulsion system and also signals the throttle and the transmission in response to an operator's manipulation of the throttle, shift or cruise control elements. There are no mechanical links or cables between the throttle, shift and cruise control elements and the propulsion system.

  • Patent number: 6326895
Abstract: A fluid level sensor for a fluid tank of a marine vessel is provided. The sensor includes a sensor mount and further includes a circuit housing that is pivotally connected to the mount to pivot about a predetermined pivot axis. A float assembly is configured to supply an actuating angle substantially impervious to fluid tank tilt and/or fluid splash at least along an axis generally perpendicular to the pivot axis. A circuit in the circuit housing is responsive to the actuating angle from the float assembly to provide an output signal indicative of the fluid level in the tank.

  • Patent number: 4403970
Abstract: Ignition pulses derived from an engine ignition coil primary are fed to the input of an ignition interruption circuit that employs an integrated circuit timer. The state of the output terminal of the timer is governed by an RC time constant circuit and by trigger signals supplied by a trigger circuit in response to occurrence of each ignition pulse. The timer output is coupled to the gate of an SCR which when it receives gate current as a result of the timer output being in a high state becomes conductive and bypasses ignition pulses to ground to thereby lower engine rpm to a preset minimum in which case gate current is removed and at least enough ignition pulses are allowed to be unbypassed for keeping the engine running above stalling speed. The timer, in effect, compares the interval between pulses with its time constant.

  • Patent number: 4369743
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electronic lubricant metering system for an engine which includes a throttle for regulating the amount of fuel delivered to the engine, the system comprising a frequency to voltage converter for producing a first electrical signal representative of engine RPM, a potentiometer including a wiper coupled to move in response to movement of the engine throttle, the voltage appearing on the wiper producing a second electrical signal representative of the amount of fuel being delivered to the engine, an oil pump for supplying a variable amount of lubricant into the fuel delivered to the engine, and an electrical control circuit responsive to the first and second electrical signals for providing a control output which renders the oil pump operative to vary the lubricant/fuel ratio of the lubricant and fuel mixture delivered to the engine.

  • Patent number: 4350952
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a digital read-out meter circuit including a digital read-out meter and a frequency multiplier arrangement for providing signal pulses coupled to the input of the digital meter counters, said signal pulses having a frequency so that the parameter value to be displayed can be counted and read out directly by the meter. A presetable up/down counter provides an output representative of the rate of change of the parameter value to be displayed, and a logic circuit arrangement is operable, subject to the up/down counter output, for allowing application of different frequency data update pulses to the data update strobe terminal of the meter so that the meter automatically switches from a slow to a fast data update rate when the rate of change in the parameter exceeds a predetermined limit.

  • Patent number: 4262622
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a marine propulsion device and apparatus and methods for assisting transmission shifting thereof. The marine propulsion device includes an internal combustion engine and a reversing transmission having a pair of bevel gears and a clutch dog movable between a neutral position out of engagement with the bevel gears and forward and reverse drive positions in full engagement with one of the bevel gears. The marine propulsion device also includes a shift assistance arrangement included in a shift mechanism for axially moving the clutch dog between the neutral and drive positions, and which includes a load sensing lost motion shift lever arrangement having a first switch which is actuated when the resistance to axially moving the clutch dog into a drive position exceeds an upper limit.

  • Patent number: 4077437
Abstract: A double catch thread weaving apparatus including two double index dobbies, the first of which controls the basic weave of the fabric and the second of which controls a pair of slackner heddles for the two catch threads. The timing of the second dobby is offset with respect to the timing of the first dobby and the shuttle cycle to pay a sufficient amount of catch thread to obtain an edge pattern using the shuttle thread and one of the catch threads at a time.

  • Patent number: 4073320
Abstract: A fabric has a first catch thread being woven in a main warp and forming exterior loops about a first edge warp and a shuttle thread looping around the first catch thread and forming exterior loops about a second edge warp opposite said first catch thread exterior loops. The shuttle thread is further woven into the main warp and forms exterior loops about the first edge warp. A second catch thread is woven in the main warp, looped around the shuttle thread, and forms exterior loops about a second edge warp opposite said shuttle threads exterior loops about the first edge warp.

  • Patent number: 4004617
Abstract: A method of weaving a fabric using, one at a time, two catch threads adjacent respectively a first edge warp and a second edge warp which are separated from the main weft by a pair of warp wires. The catch threads, edge warp and warp wires are moved or shedded in time sequence to cause one catch thread to be woven in the main warp and form exterior loops about its respective edge warp and the shuttle to form exterior loops about the opposite edge warp. The process is then reversed forming exterior loops using the second catch thread and the shuttle thread.
