  • Patent number: 5009677
Abstract: An improved electrostatic precipitator, and its process of operation is described which contains essentially vertical tubes acting as vertical collector electrodes with discharge wire electrodes suspended therein, wherein a novel nonfouling chain screen is employed as a distributor for the upward flowing gas stream and collected dust is dropped onto and passed downwardly through the chain screen for discharge.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 2, 1990
Date of Patent: April 23, 1991
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
Inventors: Steven D. Wolf, James L. Manganaro, Ronald H. Miller

  • Patent number: 4439411
Abstract: Sodium hydrosulfide is continuously produced from the reaction of hydrogen sulfide and with sodium sulfide by continuously introducing an aqueous sodium sulfide solution into an unvented reaction chamber, which may be a tower or tank, while maintaining a source of gaseous hydrogen sulfide in pressure demand relationship with the solution in the chamber, and continuously withdrawing aqueous sodium hydrosulfide solution from the chamber.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 22, 1981
Date of Patent: March 27, 1984
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
    Inventor: James L. Manganaro
  • Patent number: 4247988
Abstract: Excess water, both crystalline and non-crystalline, is removed safely and rapidly from active chlorine compounds by applying electromagnetic energy with frequencies lower than infrared to vaporize the excess water.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 1, 1979
Date of Patent: February 3, 1981
    Assignee: FMC Corporation

  • Patent number: 4003899
Abstract: A process for recovering cyanuric acid values from a reaction mixture wherein salts of chlorinated isocyanuric acid, dichloroisocyanuric acid, and trichloroisocyanuric acid, isomers and mixtures have been formed and which have been treated to convert them to cyanuric acid values in solution, the recovery process comprising contacting the foregoing reaction mixture with an alkali metal cation in a pH range of from about 7 to about 11.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 25, 1975
Date of Patent: January 18, 1977
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
Inventors: James L. Manganaro, Ronald H. Carlson
  • Patent number: 3985744
Abstract: Anhydrous sodium dichloroisocyanurate is obtained as a free flowing granular product of bulk density 0.84 to 0.94 g/cc by compacting, granulating and sizing sodium dichloroisocyanurate dihydrate to obtain a granular dihydrate product having at least 60% by weight of particles having a screen size of -10 +70 mesh (U.S. Standard) and then dehydrating said granular dihydrate product. The ability to produce anhydrous granular sodium dichloroisocyanurate of a bulk density 0.84 to 0.94 g/cc provides a means for controlling an important parameter in producing flowable non-segregating compositions, as for example, detergent compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 13, 1975
Date of Patent: October 12, 1976
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
    Inventor: James L. Manganaro
  • Patent number: 3944548
Abstract: A process for recovering cyanuric acid values and chlorine from the effluent mother liquor occurring in the preparation of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salts of dichloroisocyanurate or dichloroisocyanuric acid or trichloroisocyanuric acid, the foregoing recovery process comprising reacting dichloroisocyanurate acid or trichloroisocyanuric acid present in the foregoing effluent with a strong mineral acid.
