  • Publication number: 20040073499
Abstract: Shipment delivery by a shipper to a receiver is monitored by a sender to identify return events as distressed shipments for sender intervention. For instance, a monitoring engine detects incorrect address, receiver unavailable and receiver refusal return events from shipper tracking status information. A prioritization engine associates the shipper information with sender order information to prioritize the nature of sender intervention. An update engine provides user interfaces to guide sender representatives through resolution of distressed shipments to update delivery of the shipment. A transmission engine communicates the update delivery instructions from the sender to the shipper, such as by sending a XML formatted EDI message.

  • Patent number: 6182318
Abstract: A liquified gas dry-cleaning system including a storage tank containing a liquified gas derived from a liquifiable gas, a pressure vessel for containing a liquid bath derived from the liquifiable gas, and a circulating system for transporting the liquified gas between the storage tank and the pressurized vessel. The pressurized vessel includes a compressor mounted in a wall structure of the vessel for use in evacuating a gaseous form of the liquifiable gas released from the liquid bath during a cleaning cycle. Positioning of the compressor in this manner allows heat generated during each compression stroke of the compressor to be directed to the interior of pressure vessel to minimize the effects of a temperature decrease incident to the gaseous evacuation.

  • Patent number: 5200931
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the generation of a three-dimensional image representing structures detected within a volume. Two dimensional differential phase measurements are made on backscatter signals. Azimuth, elevation and range are calculated over a statistically large number of spatially diverse backscatter returns and used to construct a histogram of backscatter data. The histogram of backscatter data can be processed with standard image processing techniques to produce terrain maps or volumetric models of the volume of water. A system constructed according to the methods of this invention is capable of producing a three-dimensional map of the volume insonified without mechanical array scanning or electronic beam scanning. A combination of two or more volumetric scanning systems can be used to increase the resolution achievable in modelling the volumetric area.

  • Patent number: 4086018
Abstract: A deburring tool including an elongated arbor formed with a cutting blade recess. A unitary cutting tool has a cutting head with an elongated, flat, resilient blade extending therefrom. The blade is received in the recess, and mounting means secures the end of the blade opposite the cutting head to the arbor in non-pivotal relationship with respect to the arbor with the cutting head projecting from the recess, a portion of the blade extending from the mounting means being yieldable to permit the cutting head to move resiliently inwardly with respect to the recess.

  • Patent number: 4071821
Abstract: Digital apparatus and a method are disclosed for determining the phase angle of a tone signal of known frequency by correlating a clipped version of the tone signal with a reference signal having a repetition rate equal to the tone frequency. Correlation is accomplished by multiplying the clipped tone signal with each of quadrature components of the reference signal and sampling the product signals to provide binary sample trains which are supplied to a pair of shift register accumulators which effectively frame a moving phase measurement window. Reversible counters and associated logic determine the magnitudes and signs of differences in numbers of samples of noncorresponding binary values in each of the accumulators, and provide counts representative of in-phase and quadrature components of the product of the tone signal and the reference signal. The counts are utilized in a digital processor to compute the phase angle of the tone signal relative to the reference signal.

  • Patent number: 4038540
Abstract: Digital apparatus and a method are disclosed for detecting a tone pulse of known carrier frequency in a signal in which random noise is present by correlating a clipped version of the input signal with a square wave reference signal having a repetition rate equal to the carrier frequency. Correlation is accomplished by multiplying the clipped input signal with each of quadrature components of the square wave reference signal and sampling the product signals to provide binary sample trains which are supplied to a pair of shift register accumulators. Reversible counters and associated logic determine the differences in the numbers of samples of noncorresponding binary values in each of the shift registers, and provide counts which are added to produce a moving correlation signal which indicates presence of a tone pulse when it exceeds a predetermined correlation threshold.

  • Patent number: 4004235
Abstract: Apparatus, in a receiver, for detecting the mid-pulse phase reversal of an nput signal s(t) = a(t).sub.BLT cos (.omega..sub.c t + .theta.). The signal a(t).sub.BLT is a modulating signal a(t), having a phase-reversal at its midpoint, after band-limiting by a transmitter, and cos (.omega..sub.c t + .theta.) relates to a carrier having a frequency f.sub.c and arbitrary phase angle .theta.. The apparatus comprises a hard-limiter and amplifier, a phase-lock loop circuit, a multiplier circuit, a low-pass filter, a comparator, serving the function of a threshold detector, a delay timing logic circuit, and a comparator, serving as a zero crossing detector, whose input is connected to the output of the low-pass filter, which detects the mid-pulse zero-crossing of a(t).sub.BLTR.sub.' and therefore of a(t). The apparatus further includes an AND gate, whose input comprises a positive-going pulse whose trailing edge represents the mid-pulse of a (t).sub.
