  • Publication number: 20240152818
Abstract: A method is provided for debiasing machine learning models. The method includes obtaining (i) an initial model that is a trained and tree-based machine learning model and (ii) a minimum acceptable threshold accuracy, for (iii) one or more protected classes. The initial model demonstrates adverse impact on one or more protected classes. The method includes identifying branches of the initial model to prune, based on the branches' impact on one or more protected classes. The method includes applying a pruning algorithm to prune the branches of the initial model to generate one or more forest models, such that (i) predictive accuracy of the one or more forest models is above the minimum threshold accuracy, and (ii) the one or more forest models are less discriminatory than the initial mode.

  • Patent number: 11932369
Abstract: A device for coupling a propulsor to a marine vessel. The device includes a mounting bracket configured for attachment to the marine vessel. A support frame has a carriage and is configured for the propulsor to be coupled thereto, where the carriage is configured to slidably engage with the mounting bracket into a fixed position. A member is manually engageable to prevent the carriage from sliding out of the fixed position. The propulsor is coupled to the marine vessel by sliding the carriage into the fixed position and engaging the member, where the propulsor is operable to propel the marine vessel in water when the carriage is in the fixed position, and where the propulsor is configured for decoupling from the marine vessel by disengaging the member and sliding the carriage out of engagement with the mounting bracket.

  • Publication number: 20170161444
Abstract: Method and apparatus for securitizing accounts receivables (A/R) of healthcare providers (HPs) which have obligors that are obliged to make payments to the HPs for health care provided by the HPs to insured/covered persons, has at least one HP selling it's A/R to an independent Receivable Acquisition entity (RAe) at a discount from face value of the HP A/R. The RAe generates Bond funds from investors who wish to purchase HP A/R Bonds, placing the HP A/R in escrow in a bank. The RAe receives the obliged payments from the obligors at the face value of the HP A/R. The investors receive coupon and final payments from the HP A/R Bonds via the bank. Preferably, the purchase of the HP A/R is a fee simple sale of ownership, whose payment is guaranteed by a Passive Portfolio Note (PPN) issued by the RAe to a Special Purpose Cell entity that places the investor funds into the bank.

  • Patent number: 3960448
Abstract: An instrument for determining the stress in the wall of a borehole by recording successively on the same holographic recording medium two holograms of a selected surface region of the wall, and, in the interval between the two recordings, forming a stress relief in the wall in stress relieving relation to the surface region to produce on the recording medium a double exposure hologram. This hologram contains holographic information which represents the stress in the wall in the vicinity of the surface region and may be converted to data defining the magnitude and direction of the stress.
