Publication number: 20230380324Abstract: A pivot system for a rotating agricultural tool includes a bearing assembly has an inner bearing race and an outer bearing race. The pivot system also includes a shaft having a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end. The shaft has an angled surface extending from the first longitudinal end to the second longitudinal end. The angled surface has a plurality of points of contact. The inner bearing race contacts the plurality of points of contact to enable the bearing assembly to pivot about a transverse axis that extends perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2022Publication date: November 30, 2023Inventor: James L. Patent number: 10746202Abstract: In one aspect, a piston assembly for a fluid-driven actuator may include a piston defining a passage extending between first and second chambers of the actuator. The piston assembly may further include a valve having a valve head and a valve stem. The valve may be positioned within the passage and slidable between an open position and a closed position. The valve stem may extend outward from the passage into the second chamber when the valve is positioned in the closed position. Additionally, the piston assembly may include a spring compressed between the valve head and the piston. The spring may be configured to bias the valve to the closed position. The valve may be configured to move to the open position when a pressure in the second chamber exceeds a pressure threshold or when the valve stem contacts a cylinder of the fluid-driven actuator.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2018Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: CNH Industrial America, LLCInventor: James L. Tetrick

Patent number: 7857072Abstract: The agricultural row units feature soil finishing assemblies. This configuration of the finishing assembly provides a simple adjustment of the height of the finishing assembly to enhance usability and flexibility of the row unit. The improved adjustment mechanism enhances user control over the vertical distance between the finishing wheels/discs and the ground opening assembly. In an exemplary embodiment, soil finishing assembly is pivotally coupled to the row unit frame via a height adjustment assembly. The height adjustment assembly may feature a biasing member and other components to allow adjustment of one end of the pivotal coupling of the adjustment assembly within the row unit assembly.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2008Date of Patent: December 28, 2010Assignee: CNH America LLCInventors: Michael G. Kovach, James L. Tetrick, Greg S. Smart, Scott G. Ireland

Patent number: 7481279Abstract: A scraper system to remove and deflect debris and soil from a disc gang mounted on an agricultural implement is provided. The scraper system includes a mounting bracket member supported at a common axle in support of the disc gang. The mounting bracket member is aligned generally parallel to and located forward of the common axle, and is mounted at a forward end of an elongated carry member supported from the common axle. The elongated carry member is generally aligned perpendicular relative to the common axle. A scraper blade is supported by a scraper arm mounted at the mounting bracket member and is located above the common axle. The location of the scrapper blade and the scraper arm allows a deflector plate to be located at the rearward end of the carry member.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2005Date of Patent: January 27, 2009Assignee: CNH America, LLCInventors: Melvin L. Blunier, Marvin D. Kuebler, James L. Tetrick, Rickey L. Gerber

Patent number: 6250664Abstract: A carrier frame for a spring cushion truck hitch includes first side mounting plates and a transverse load-resisting tube connected between the mounting plates. The stiffener extends laterally beyond the first plate and includes second side plates which connect the frame of the hitch to the truck frame, so that the carrier frame can be removed from the hitch and the hitch re-used on a different truck having a different frame configuration.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2000Date of Patent: June 26, 2001Assignee: United Truck Parts LLCInventor: James L. Tetrick

Patent number: 6139042Abstract: A carrier frame for a spring cushion truck hitch includes side mounting brackets and a transverse load-resisting (torsion) bar connected between the mounting brackets. The mounting brackets connect the frame of the hitch to the truck frame, so that the carrier frame can be removed from the hitch and the hitch re-used on a different truck having a different frame configuration. The mounting brackets carry the hitch below the truck bumper which need not be removed or replaced.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 1999Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Case CorporationInventor: James L. Patent number: 5170909Abstract: An air seed meter which dispenses individual seeds supplied by a seed hopper into a furrow at a controlled rate as the meter and others like it are advanced over the ground has a generally cylindrical housing containing a rotatable seed disk. As the seed disk is rotated past a mass of seeds on one side thereof, a plurality of seed cells formed by recesses in the surface of the seed disk at one or more circumferential rows of holes adjacent the outer periphery of the seed disk mechanically accelerate and eventually capture therein individual seeds from the seed mass. The individual seeds are held within the cells by a pressure differential created by a vacuum source coupled to the inside of the housing on the opposite side of the seed disk until the cells reach a discharge area. At the discharge area, the effects of the vacuum are cut off so as to release the individual seeds from the cells for discharge through a chute at the bottom of the housing to a seed furrow below.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1986Date of Patent: December 15, 1992Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: William R.
