  • Patent number: 5052109
Abstract: A guide bar for a mechanical harvester wherein the guide bar is repairable after bending. The guide bar is provided with a pliable section of lowered hardness in a limited zone between a mounting bracket and the principal cutting portion of the bar. A hinge area is thereby created in the zone area to permit bending of the bar without breaking. Reduced hardness is tolerated in the zone area where the least cutting action is encountered.
