  • Patent number: 6237877
Abstract: A failed bearing indicator for detecting and indicating an overheated axle journal in a railcar axle bearing. In a preferred embodiment the failed bearing indicator is characterized by an elongated connector chain terminated on each end by a T-shaped connector bracket. Each of the connector brackets is typically bolted to a common pedestal adaptor which is mounted on each corresponding axle bearing of the railcar, and one of the fastening bolts is constructed of a heat-resistant material and the other fastening bolt is constructed of a heat-sensitive material. In the event that the axle bearing overheats during travel of the railcar on the railroad, the heat-sensitive bolt melts and releases the corresponding connector bracket from the pedestal adaptor, while the other connector bracket, secured by the heat-resistant bolt, remains attached to the pedestal adaptor.

  • Patent number: 4107793
Abstract: A mixing apparatus for continuously coagulating the polymer of an aqueous latex and consolidating as a paste coagulum comprising a barrel, a rotor positioned therein and being coaxial therewith, said rotor having attached opposed rows of forward angled tab blades and opposed wiping blades axially aligned therewith, said barrel having first and second feed ports at a first end section and a discharge port at the second end section thereof, a closure means and a journal means attached to said rotor at the feed section thereof, the relationship between the elements of said apparatus being such that during operation of said apparatus, said paste coagulum can output from said discharge port when said latex is input to said first port means and a coagulant is input to said second port means.

  • Patent number: 4080352
Abstract: A process for continuously coagulating a polymeric latex and consolidating as a paste coagulum in an apparatus comprising a barrel containing first and second feed ports, a rotor having opposed rows of angled tab blades and opposed wiper blades, a feed and closure means and a discharge port in an end of said barrel opposed to said feed ports, the steps comprising, continuously feeding an aqueous latex and an organic solvent simultaneously with a coagulant to said apparatus, continuously mixing said feeds and coagulating said latex forming a coagulum, consolidating said coagulum as a solvent polymer phase having the aqueous phase dispersed therein, said coagulum taking the form of a paste.
