  • Patent number: 11925717
Abstract: A photosensitizer formulation can be disposed on or in a mesh; net; netting; screen; curtain of strands, fibers, or monofilaments; substrate, personal protective gear, mask, or any other suitable object. The photosensitizer formulation, when in contact with molecular oxygen and activated by light or ultrasound, produces microbicidal singlet oxygen. A variety of different arrangements and applications are described. For example, an air flow device may also be included to generate a flow of air through or over the photosensitizer formulation. A fluorescent formulation may be included to monitor photobleaching. The photosensitizer formulation may be disposed in a concentration gradient to generate antigenic particles by damaging or destroying microbes.

  • Patent number: 11325302
Abstract: A system and method are provided enabling higher precision in composite based additive manufacturing (‘AM”). The method includes staging a fibrous material such as carbon fiber sheets by potentially cutting to length and placing a sheet onto an elevator. Above the elevator is a gantry that holds a moveable print head and a powder deposition device as well as an excess powder recapture device. A liquid is placed onto the fiber by the print head such that when the subsequent step of dusting the area with a plastic powder, the powder sticks to the area where the liquid was imaged. Subsequently, excess powder is removed and pressure and potentially heat are applied to sinter the layer and compress to the desired height.

  • Patent number: 7980558
Abstract: A vacuum control assembly for use in an image production device is provided. The assembly has a plenum, a perforated plate, a plurality of valve assemblies, and a controller. Each valve assembly has a rotating valve having a vacuum passage, and a chamber body having a plurality of chambers. Each valve is rotatable between a first position that fluidly connects the vacuum passage with at least one of the chambers to complete a fluid path between the plenum and the perforated plate, and a second position at which the vacuum passage connects the plenum with none of the chambers. The controller controls the plurality of valve assemblies to provide vacuum to a first predetermined portion of the perforated plate while also providing no vacuum to a second predetermined portion of the perforated plate.

  • Publication number: 20030097640
Abstract: A system for creating and editing documents may include a reference view function which allows a user to quickly and easily refer to data that may not be included in a document. The inventive system may also include a function for saving and restoring view configurations to ensure that valuable ideas may be stored and recalled, and/or a function for tracking of motivic re-use of data.

  • Patent number: 6181826
Abstract: A technique for achieving essentially perfect reconstruction of an M level image by forming at least two non-dependent digital images from an original digital image and by determining the quantization levels M of the original digital image and then forming the two non-dependent images by quantizing the original M level image to two M/2 level images, one being rounded down and the other being rounded up in value. A reconstructed image, having a higher resolution than any of the non-dependent M/2 digital images is formed by combining and averaging at least two of the non-dependent images.

  • Patent number: 6011211
Abstract: The present invention enables non-musicians to effectively compose music using a computer, and provides them with the means to manipulate musical content in an intuitive fashion without the need for formal musical training. The invention combines a representation of musical knowledge with a representation of musical data in such a way that permits transposition of the data to be constrained to conform to a set of harmonic rules. The user can select pitches to be moved higher or lower, and a system insures that it sounds good (where good is defined to mean "satisfies the conditions of the harmonic rule base").

  • Patent number: 4943760
Abstract: In a control system for a reluctance motor driving a load, the output of a reference waveform generator is applied to a power converter through a current controller. The output of the generator is determined by rotor position, as detected by a sensor. The generator establishes a relative magnitude for motor phase current for every position of the rotor during the period of energization of a motor phase. A further control input may determine the absolute magnitude of the motor phase current, subject to the waveform pattern established by the generator. The reference waveforms may be sinusoidal. A method of determining the configuration of suitable reference waveforms for a given motor involves monitoring selected parameters of motor operation while controlling other such parameter in a test procedure.

  • Patent number: 4085170
Abstract: The contact area between a first phase of a multi-phase system and a liquid second phase of the system is increased by effecting transient electrical discharges between electrodes immersed in the liquid second phase or in a volume of liquid in acoustic communication with the liquid second phase. The first phase can be in the form of a particulate solid, a gas, or a liquid of lower density than that of the second phase. The first phase is mingled with the second phase by a bubbling technique where the first phase has a lower density than the second phase. The hydraulic shock waves produced by the electrical discharges disperse the bubbles or particles of the first phase in the liquid second phase and thus increase the contact area between the phases.
