  • Publication number: 20150197950
Abstract: A surface repair kit includes an air-permeable breathable membrane coated with a premeasured amount of joint compound in its wet state. The membrane is suspended in a semi-rigid flexible frame and an opposing cover sheet is affixed over the compound around the backside of the frame. This framed composition is encased in an airtight package to prevent the compound from hardening. Included in the packaging may be a wall patch with an adhesive surface that holds a peel-off covering. Sandpaper may also be included in the kits since some repairs may require a final light sanding. The outside of the packaging carries simple printed instructions for the user to carry out the steps of peel, press and roll with accompanying illustrations so that drywall repairs can be carried out even by an unskilled novice.

  • Patent number: 9008313
Abstract: A system for generating random key stream cipher texts passes an unencrypted random key stream through an AES engine to produce encrypted cipher text having a first block size in a first frequency domain; converts the encrypted cipher text in the first frequency domain to encrypted cipher text in a second frequency domain; and converts the encrypted cipher text having the first block size in the second frequency domain into smaller block sizes. The frequency in the first frequency domain is preferably lower than the frequency in the second frequency domain. The converting of the encrypted cipher text in the first frequency domain to encrypted cipher text in a second frequency domain may be effected by a dual clock domain FIFO.

  • Patent number: 8958688
Abstract: Aspects of performing smooth backwards playback in a DVD system are described. The aspects include reconstructing frame data for every frame in a set of frames of an original playback, the set of frames preceding a currently displayed frame. Further included is the utilization of at least seven frame buffers to store frame data during the reconstructing step. The reconstructed frame data is then displayed in reverse order of the original playback for the set of frames.

  • Publication number: 20140304515
Abstract: A media signer produces an array of hash values including a respective hash value for each of multiple different portions of content. The media signer applies a hash function and an encryption key to the array of hash values to create a digital signature associated with the content. Prior to playback of the content, a media verifier retrieves the array of hash values for the different portions of content. The media verifier produces a hash value result for the retrieved array. Based on the hash value result for the retrieved array and a hash value result of the array in the received digital signature, the media verifier verifies the integrity of the retrieved array. If the retrieved array of hash values is found to be trustworthy, the media verifier determines the integrity of a portion of the content by verifying the portion's corresponding hash value from the “trustworthy” array.

  • Publication number: 20140208108
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatuses for a mediator enforcing policies to a resource utilizing an electronic content, are disclosed. One method includes receiving, by a mediator computing device of a mediator, a second share SKG2 from an owner server, wherein a first share SKG1 is provided to a member server of a member of a group by the owner server, wherein the owner defines policies associated with the group. The method further includes the mediator receiving a request from the member for mediation, including the mediator receiving a dispatch of the header of the encrypted electronic content, determining, by the mediator, whether the member is eligible to access the electronic content based at least in part on the policies associated with the group, if eligible, the mediator responds to the request for mediation with a member accessible header.

  • Publication number: 20140100668
Abstract: Flexible configuration of process control systems or plants allows draft changes or modifications to be made to parent process objects, e.g., in a configuration environment, without automatically triggering corresponding instantiations and/or downloads of the parent process objects and/or their derived children objects into a run-time system. Parent objects to which draft changes are allowed may include class objects, instance objects, and/or library objects. One or more modifications to a process object may be saved as a draft, and multiple drafts for a same process object may be saved as different versions. Children objects may indicate the particular version of a parent object draft from which they are derived. A user may indicate that a particular draft or version is to be published or approved. Unpublished or unapproved drafts are prevented from being instantiated in the run-time system, whereas published or approved drafts are allowed to be instantiated.

  • Patent number: 8682565
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling a vehicle system including an engine that is selectively deactivated during engine idle-stop conditions and selectively reactivated during engine restart conditions. One example method comprises, during an engine restart from an idle stop, performing a first combustion event in a cylinder with a piston at an engine crankshaft position that is after a crankshaft position at which said cylinder's exhaust valve opens, and before a crankshaft position at which the cylinder's intake valve closes, during a cycle of said cylinder. In this way, inaccuracies in cylinder aircharge estimation may be reduced, thereby also reducing air-fuel ratio errors and improving the quality and repeatability of engine restarts.

  • Patent number: 8672586
Abstract: The field of the invention relates to systems and methods for exchanging heat from the degradation, decomposition, and chemical/biochemical transformation of municipal, industrial, and other types of waste. In one embodiment, a heat extraction system may include a closed-loop fluid circulation piping channeled throughout at least one heat extraction well oriented throughout a waste mass. The piping is fluidly coupled to a heat exchanger. A first circulation fluid is circulated through the closed-loop circulation piping into various depths of the waste mass to transfer thermal energy between said mass and said heat exchanger. In one embodiment, the transfer of thermal energy between the waste mass and the heat exchanger is used as alternative energy method and to control at least one of shear strength, compressibility, and hydraulic conductivity of the waste mass.

  • Publication number: 20130240333
Abstract: A flexible composite conveyor belt, such as for use as a belt wrapper in overlying combination with a metal belt in cooking or heating operations. The belt includes a protrusion attached to a flexible substrate. The protrusion includes an engagement surface adapted to secure the protrusion to a portion of the underlying metal belt to drive the belt at a same speed as the conveyor belt. Protrusions on opposing ends of the belt negate the need for conventional lacing in securing the ends of the belt together.

  • Patent number: 8528295
Abstract: A re-usable vehicle trim component (20) for attaching to a support member (38), such as a passenger seat, includes a trim panel (22) and a fastener (24) integral with the trim panel (22). A base (26) is coupled to the trim panel (22) by dog house walls (46). A pair of shafts (28) extend transversely from the base (26), a cross beam (30) extends between the shafts (28), and an elastically flexible return arm (32) extends from the cross beam (30) toward the base (26) to a distal end (68). A catch (34) extends outwardly from the return arm (32). The return arm (32) deflects as the fastener (24) is inserted into an aperture (36) of the support member (38). The support member (38) is secured between the catch (34) and the base (26). The trim component (20) can be removed and re-installed without damage.

  • Publication number: 20130063049
Abstract: A light fixture having a construction enabling on/off operation with a wall-mounted switch in a circuit by itself or with other fixtures and to be upgraded in “plug and play” fashion to operate independently of other fixtures in the circuit or for stepped dimming. Modular construction provides safety and ease of maintenance in that ballasts are replaced without exposure to internal wiring and provides temperature management by isolating temperature-sensitive components from high temperatures while placing the lamps in an enclosure in which temperature is contained to operate efficiently. If passive thermal management is not enough to maximize operating efficiency and/or service life, the fixture is upgradeable in plug and play fashion to active thermal management. Ballast modules can be equipped with a microcontroller for collecting operational data that is harvested and used to optimize switching to evenly age lamps and electronics or determine energy consumption.
