  • Publication number: 20240406658
Abstract: A method that includes displaying a user interface (UI) of a three-dimensional (3D) acoustic environment that includes a sound source; receiving a user selection, via an input device, of a location within the UI, the location towards which the sound source is to be oriented within the 3D acoustic environment; determining a set of parameters that define an orientation of the sound source towards the location within the 3D acoustic environment; determining that there is motion of the location or the sound source within the 3D acoustic environment; updating, without user intervention and based on the motion, the set of parameters to maintain the orientation of the sound source towards the location.

  • Patent number: 9247396
Abstract: In a wireless multihop network having node devices within communication range neighboring node devices in a corresponding local neighborhood, the node devices initiate repeated message broadcasts of a first message as a connection-less broadcast into the local neighborhood. Initiation of message broadcasts is governed such that the message broadcasts are permitted only at specified transmission times within a plurality of transmission time windows. Each of the node devices determines whether any of the connection-less-broadcasted messages are duplicates of the first message, and generate a count of those duplicates received during each of the transmission windows. Based on counts of the duplicates, initiation of a message broadcast of the first message in a current transmission window is suppressed in response to a corresponding count of duplicates of the first message received during the first transmission window exceeding a suppression limit.

  • Publication number: 20120161091
Abstract: A compact, easy to use, single-use jack is provided. The jack includes an expandable volume formed from nested cylinders and a mechanism to fill the volume, under pressure, with a foam. When the foam is released, the volume expands, increasing the height of the jack. The jack may be safely stored and may be actuated to provide force when needed.

  • Patent number: 7482927
Abstract: A combination surveillance and alerting system and method in a restaurant that serves take-out customers. A video camera monitors a parking space for take-out customers, and sends video to an image recognition program, which detects when a vehicle enters the parking space. The detection triggers a controller to start a timer and instruct an on-premises paging transmitter to page an employee responsible for serving takeout customers. The image recognition program detects when the employee enters a greeting zone for greeting customers, and the controller prepares an elapsed greeting time report for management. The image recognition program also detects when the vehicle leaves the parking space, and the controller prepares a total service time report for management.

  • Publication number: 20080033858
Abstract: An online auction process for derivative securities is used to determine a fair market value of an asset or benefit provided to others, such as employee stock options. In one embodiment, the derivative securities track the intrinsic value realized by employees when exercising the employee stock options granted to them by their employers. The derivative securities may include rules for handling modifications to an employee stock option grant and/or rules for handling forfeitures of some or all of the employee stock options.

  • Publication number: 20070044820
Abstract: A system controls dispensing different chemicals received from containers at a plurality of ports. Each container has data thereon that identifies the chemical within the container. The system reads the data from each container to determine which port is associated with each chemical. When a given chemical is required, the system activates a flow control device coupled to the port associated with that given chemical, thereby supplying the given chemical to a consuming device. Therefore regardless of into which port an operator places a particular chemical, the system automatically knows which port has which chemical and the dispensing is configured accordingly. Various mechanisms for storing the data on and reading the data from the container are described.

  • Publication number: 20060216217
Abstract: Prior to adding detergent or chelant, the conductivity of water in a washing chamber is measured. The maximum concentration of hard water ions that could correspond to the measured conductivity is determined, i.e., it is assumed that all of the conductivity is from calcium and/or magnesium ions in the water even though other ions may in fact be contributing to the measured conductivity. Enough chelating agent is added to the chamber to sequester this maximum concentration of hard water ions and the conductivity is measured again. Using the two conductivity measurements, the actual concentration of hard water ions is determined. A chelant factor based on the actual concentration of hard water ions is then used to determine the amount of chelant to be added for subsequent wash cycles to sequester all of the hard water ions.
