  • Publication number: 20060025797
Abstract: A cannula, a straightener, and a cannula and straightener combination for insertion into tissue, the cannula including an elongated rigid hollow tube having a proximal end, a distal end, and a passageway extending therebetween. The distal end includes a memory of directionality to bend about a radius. The cannula straightener straightens the distal end of the cannula when inserted through the passageway of the cannula. The present invention also includes methods of inserting a cannula, removing a cannula, and performing surgery with a cannula in tissue or in fetal tissue. The present invention further includes methods of performing biliary cannulation in a transhepatic approach, performing fetal aortic valvuloplasty, placing catheters into the brachial plexus for pain management, placing catheters into the epidural space for anesthesia, thoracic dissection treatment, laparoscopic dissection, and hydro dissection of tissue.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20050234546
Abstract: A replacement heart valve apparatus. The heart valve apparatus includes a stent and a valve frame having a substantially cylindrical body defining a lumen. The valve frame includes a plurality of curved wire pairs attached to the substantially cylindrical body. Each curved wire pair includes an inner curved wire and an outer curved wire. The wire frame further having a plurality of leaflets. Each leaflet is attached to a respective inner curved wire and extends over a respective outer curved wire, so as to position the body of the leaflet within the lumen of the valve frame.

  • Patent number: 5956139
Abstract: A method and apparatus for analyzing a fluid containing light scattering components. The apparatus includes a laser adapted to direct abeam of light into the fluid such as a liquid containing particles, and at least two detectors to receive light scattered by the fluid, which received light is used to calculate a physical property of the fluid. A focusing lens may be used to focus the light beam to a focal waist in the fluid to enhance the degree of spatial coherence of the scattered light. The two detectors are aligned onto the focal waist and are adapted to send a signal to a data processor which correlates the signal received from said two detectors. The two detectors are spaced a substantially equal distance from the focal waist and are oriented at substantially the same angle with respect to the direction of propagation of the incident beam. The data processor is adapted to cross-correlate the signals received from the two detectors.

  • Patent number: 3936339
Abstract: An efficient, inexpensive, in-line process is provided for producing additive-impregnated corrugated board, such as those having excellent rigid-when-wet and rigid-when-humid strengths. The process comprises applying an additive, such as water- and moisture-resistant resin, flame retardant, fire proofing agent, fungicide, mold-inhibitor, insecticide, or the like, in the form of a collapsible foam of a dispersion or solution of the additive to the corrugated medium, and desirably the liners, at the time the corrugated board is being formed.
