  • Publication number: 20030024834
Abstract: A locking device for a disc retaining hub includes a base and a head that lock together over the hub to lock a disc on the hub until a portion of the locking device is destroyed. The head or the base of the locking device includes locking fingers that allow the head and base to lock together in a one-way snap fit connection. The locking mechanism may also cooperate with the disc retaining hub to lock itself to the hub. The locking mechanism prevents the disc from being removed from the hub until the locking mechanism is destroyed by the user.

  • Publication number: 20030000860
Abstract: A lockable media storage box and lock and key combination includes a box having a base and a lid hingedly connected to the base and movable between opened and closed positions. A lock is attached to the box that prevents the box from being opened until the lock is removed with a key or until the lock is destroyed.

  • Publication number: 20020170838
Abstract: A retaining device for a disc-shaped item of recorded media includes at least one arm that projects through the central opening of the disc with a locking finger that engages the upper edge of the disc. The disc is released when the user pushes downwardly on the retaining device to collapse the arm through the central opening of the disc to release the disc. The downward force on the device forces portions of the retaining device below the bottom wall of the container. When the downward force is released, the arms engage the lower inner edge of the disc and hold the disc on top of the retaining device. The invention also provides a disc-holding page that snaps into the lid of the container to allow a second disc to be stored.

  • Publication number: 20020100702
Abstract: A storage container for an item of recorded media includes a centrally disposed hub surrounded by and spaced from an outer wall. The hub includes a pair of resilient arms that cooperate to loosely but securely retain an item of recorded media having a centrally disposed inner hole. The hub includes a first support platform that includes a plurality of raised bumps that essentially frictionlessly support the item of recorded media from below. The outer wall includes a second support platform that also includes a plurality of bumps that supports the item of recorded media from below about its outer periphery. The outer wall also includes a blocking wall that extends above the outer edge to prevent the user from grasping the outer edge of the item of recorded media. The outer wall further contains a finger access hole that extends through the blocking wall that allows the user to grab the edge of the item of recorded media in a selected position that is aligned with the arms of the hub.

  • Publication number: 20020053526
Abstract: A storage container for a disc-shaped item of recorded media includes a hub that holds the disc-shaped item of recorded media by engaging the portion of the disc-shaped item of recorded media immediately adjacent the centrally-disposed opening of the disc-shaped item of recorded media. The hub includes three fingers that each include a holding projection that snap fits over the top of the disc-shaped item of recorded media. The container includes a ring that surrounds the hub so that the bottom of the disc-shaped item of recorded media does not engage the storage container. The outer circumference of the disc-shaped item of recorded media is supported by a circumferential ledge.

  • Publication number: 20020046963
Abstract: A lockable media storage box includes a base and a lid connected to the base with at least one hinge. The base and lid include elements that cooperate with a locking to allows the lid to be locked in the closed position. In one embodiment, the lock is received in the concave opening disposed at the front of the storage container. The lock may be unlocked with a special key or may be unlocked by destroying portions of the lock that are designed to be destroyed. In another embodiment of the invention, a sliding lock is carried by the container. The sliding lock may be carried inside the container or on the front wall of the container.
