  • Publication number: 20210225109
Abstract: An electronic voting system is described that utilizes printed vote records (PVRs) in which a voter's vote selections are recorded in voter readable characters. Optical character recognition (OCR) techniques may then be utilized to scan the PVR to record the voter's selections. The OCR data is then utilized to generate the cast vote record. Thus, the electronic voting system directly interprets the voter selections from the PVR just as the voter sees the data. In this manner “what you see is what you get” printed vote record data is provided for a voter's viewing and that same data is used to generate the cast vote record.

  • Publication number: 20210142606
Abstract: An electronic voting system that includes transportable voting equipment is described. Such transportable voting equipment includes a carrier that may be transportable and easily moved to enable curbside/mobile voting. The carrier may be ergonomically shaped for usage by passing through a vehicle window and resting in a voter's lap. In one embodiment, the carrier may include a printer to produce a printed vote record. The electronic voting system may include the use of a base station (for example located inside a polling building), the curbside/mobile carrier, and a smart panel that is dockable and removable to/from both the base station and the curbside/mobile carrier.

  • Patent number: 10789801
Abstract: An election voting system is provided. The election voting system includes a printer for accepting printer medium. In one embodiment, the printer medium may be a paper printer medium. The printer medium includes mark(s) positioned on the printer medium that may be utilized to determine whether the printer medium is inserted into the printer in the proper orientation. The election voting system may include a sensor that identifies the presence of the mark. Two marks are positioned so that the orientation of the paper (right side up versus upside down) can be determined. In addition, in one embodiment, the marks are positioned so that even if the printer medium is rotated 180 degrees, orientation as to which side is up may be detected.

  • Patent number: 10169943
Abstract: A voting system provides haptic feedback to a visually impaired voter to guide the voter. The haptic feedback may include vibration. The vibration may provide guidance by vibrating tactile written instructions, such as braille. The vibration may also provide guidance to the voter via the location of the vibration. A particular tactile instruction may be selectively highlighted at the appropriate time in the voting process and/or appropriate location on the voting device. In this manner, haptic guidance and cues are provided to a visually impaired voter. In one embodiment, the haptic feedback is provided by vibrating a relevant braille instruction at the relevant time during the voting process. In this manner touch sense guidance and cues are provided to a voter to emphasize what braille instructions are currently relevant to a voter and/or the location of such relevance.

  • Publication number: 20180018844
Abstract: A system for collecting and aggregating voting data from a plurality of voting locations and/or voting devices is provided. The system provides for transmission of election voting data from the voting locations/devices to the central election center, to speed the collection of voting data upon the close of polls. Data may be provided to a receiving host computing system at the central election center. Data from many individual data sources is aggregated in one database and/or one memory drive, providing a many-to-one aggregation of data. A highly configurable dashboard is provided so the officials may quickly determine progress of the voting process. This dashboard may be used to provide real-time data on status of voting location/device data transmission and the storage of that data at the receiving host computing system.

  • Patent number: 9292993
Abstract: Automatic planogram programming for a glass front snack or cold drink vending machine is accomplished using tray, product and price barcodes, each preferably a different type of barcode. Trays within the vending machine are labeled with unique barcodes, and a set of price barcodes for predetermined prices is provided together with a USB-connected scanner. The barcode label affixed to any tray is scanned by the route driver. The UPC/EAN barcodes on products are then scanned for each selection progressing across the tray, together with a price barcode for the first selection and each subsequent selection having a different price from the prior selection on the tray. Planogram data for the tray may be reviewed and corrected on a customer interface display for the vending machine before moving on to another tray, with the trays programmed in any order. The planogram for the entire vending machine is quickly and accurately programmed.

  • Patent number: 9111268
Abstract: In a system for a field asset site having a plurality of field assets, a first transport module interfaces with a first field asset, the first transport module operable to communicate via a first transport with a communication center outside of the field asset site. A second transport module interfaces with the first field asset. A third transport module interfaces with an associated field asset and is operable to communicate via a second transport to the second transport module. Each of a plurality of audit devices interfaces with an associated field asset from which operation data is acquired by the audit device. Each of a plurality of routing modules interfaces between an associated field audit device and at least one of the second transport module and the third transport module, with each routing module operable to provide transport-agnostic communication between its associated audit device and at least one of the communication center and another audit device.
