  • Patent number: 7580389
Abstract: A first communication device (e.g., the communication device that is sending data) monitors a radio channel in a predetermined set of radio channels. A message is transmitted on the first radio channel if the first radio channel is unoccupied. A second radio channel from the predetermined set of channels is checked if the first radio channel is occupied. The message is sent on the second radio channel if the second radio channel is unoccupied and the message was not sent on the first radio channel. In one embodiment, the transmission is sent in predetermined limited time blocks and predetermined set of channels is limited to a particular number of channels. In one embodiment a channel occupancy map and channel selection algorithm are utilized to establish the predetermined set of channels.

  • Patent number: 7580794
Abstract: A GPS information service system for providing supplemental GPS correction and signal acquisition information to subscribers. A GPS information server broadcasts GPS aiding information encrypted with subscription keys. A remote GPS subscription unit receives the key enablers for the subscription keys in service activation (SAM) messages for the services for which they have subscribed and then uses the subscription keys to decrypt the GPS aiding information. In order to prevent unauthorized access to the information, unsymmetrical signature generation and authentication algorithms are used for generating and authenticating signatures for the SAM messages.

  • Publication number: 20090182502
Abstract: In a method for refining a position estimate of a low earth orbiting (LEO) satellite a first position estimate of a LEO satellite is obtained with a GNSS receiver on-board the LEO satellite. The first position estimate is communicated to a Virtual Reference Station (VRS) processor. VRS corrections are received at the LEO satellite, the VRS corrections having been calculated for the first position estimate by the VRS processor. The VRS corrections are processed on-board the LEO satellite such that a VRS corrected LEO satellite position estimate of the LEO satellite is generated for the first position estimate.

  • Publication number: 20090077204
Abstract: A system for selection by a user and delivery to the user over an internetwork transmission channel of selected audio data files at a delivery rate of at least twice the delivery rate for normal, audibly perceptible playback of an audio data file. The user registers the user's selection of audio material with a central library of audio and/or text data files, and a digitized and optionally compressed omnibus file containing the user's selections is prepared and transmitted to the user at a high data transfer rate. The user receives downloads the selected data files to a personal computer or to a portable storage and playback unit (SPU) that may store and play back digitized text or audio data, using a docking station. The user carries this SPU until the user has an opportunity to audio process and play back the text or audio data files in audibly perceptible form.

  • Patent number: 7266445
Abstract: A method and a system for navigating a vehicle around a real site. The method comprises the following steps: (A) creating a database of Positional Reality Images (PRI) that substantially accurately represents the real site, and (B) accessing the database of Positional Reality Images (PRI) that substantially accurately represents the real site in order to navigate a vehicle around said real site. The integrated Positional Reality System (PRS) comprising a positioning system integrated with a plurality of optical systems is used to create the database of Positional Reality Images (PRI) that substantially accurately represents the real site. The PRS utilizes a laser-diode-based optical scanning system if a range between the PRS and a selected real site object comprises a short range distance and a pulse-type-microlaser-based optical system if a range between the PRS and a selected real site object comprises a short-to-medium range distance.
