  • Patent number: 5615925
Abstract: A child seat includes a seat, an article holder, and a mechanism that connects the article holder to the seat. The seat includes a left side wall, a right side wall positioned to lie in spaced-apart relation to the left side wall, and a seat bottom therebetween. One of the left and right side walls includes an inner panel abutting the seat bottom, an outer panel spaced apart from and connected to the inner panel, and a downwardly-opening, article holder-receiving mounting chamber defined between the inner panel and outer panel. The inner panel includes a bottom edge and the outer panel includes a bottom edge that is vertically spaced from the bottom edge of the inner panel to define a side access port into the downwardly-opening, article holder-receiving mounting chamber. The mechanism that connects the article holder to the seat positions the article holder adjacent to the side access port.

  • Patent number: 5516190
Abstract: An infant carrier comprising a seat having a front, back, opposed parallel side walls, and a handle having opposed parallel legs with one end of each of the legs being pivotally connected to a mating side wall. The legs extend upwardly and inwardly from the side walls and terminate at their distal ends in a spaced apart relationship along a longitudinal axis between the side walls. A handgrip connects the distal ends of the legs so that the transverse axis of the handgrip extends along the longitudinal axis between the side walls. The handle is preferably of a molded plastic and may comprise two substantially identical legs which are secured together in the handgrip area.

  • Patent number: 5507558
Abstract: An auto booster seat adapted to be positioned on the seat of a vehicle to support a child and for functioning in cooperation with a conventional seat belt to secure the child and auto booster seat with respect to the seat of a car in the event of an accident or sudden acceleration or deceleration. The auto booster seat comprises a seating shell in a generally rectangular configuration and has parallel side edges and parallel front and rear edges, a lower surface positionable on the seat of the vehicle and an upper surface having a pad for receipt of a child sitting thereon. The seating shell has projections extending upwardly from the upper surface along the side edges. Each projection has a forward extent adjacent to the front edge and a rearward extent adjacent to the rear edge. A generally U-shaped cutout is formed into each projection with upwardly directed front and rear parallel surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5478135
Abstract: A child carrier having a seat which may be attached and removed from a base. The base has a spring-loaded locking mechanism which automatically secures the seat in the base. The seat has a spring-loaded release trigger extending from its head end. The trigger is integral with an elongated member which engages a connection to the locking mechanism in the base so as to release the seat from the base. The base and seat comprise an infant car seat.

  • Patent number: 5106154
Abstract: An improved integral frame, convertible, child car seat positionable out of a car between reclined and erect orientations and positionable in a car either facing forwardly or rearwardly. The car seat comprises, in combination, a one-piece integral shell having a lower surface for the support thereof and an upper surface for the receipt of a child. The lower surface has a pair of planar extents, one forward and one rearward with an angle of about 160 degrees therebetween. Forward apertures in the shell are for securing the seat by the seat belt of a car in the rearward direction. Rearward apertures in the shell are for securing the seat by the seat belt of a car in the forward direction. A recline arm is pivotally secured to the shell. A lock secures the recline arm in a retracted position when the shell is in a reclined orientation supported on the rearward planar surface and secures the recline arm in an extended position when the shell is in a erect orientation supported on the forward planar surface.
