  • Patent number: 7850651
Abstract: An aspiration assembly including an outer cannulated needle having a tip, a threaded collar, and an inner aspiration needle. The threaded collar is mounted to an end of the outer cannulated needle opposite to the tip. The inner aspiration needle has a tip at a first end and a threaded portion proximate to a second end. The inner aspiration needle is inserted within the outer cannulated needle such that the tip of the inner aspiration needle extends beyond the tip of the outer cannulated needle and the threaded portion of the inner aspiration needle threadably engages the threaded collar. The distance that the tip of the inner aspiration needle extends from the tip of the outer cannulated needle increases when the inner aspiration needle is rotated in a first direction relative to the outer cannulated needle.

  • Patent number: 7819873
Abstract: A fixation pin, surgical assembly and method of fixing a cutting guide to a bone. The fixation pin includes a body having an interference portion which engages the wall of a hole in bone, a tip and a tool mating section. The surgical assembly includes an instrument for engaging the selected bone and a fixation pin operably interconnected with the instrument to engage the selected bone. Methods of fixing an instrument with a fixation pin are included. An incision is made to expose a bone. The instrument and fixation pin are interconnected and the assembly is mounted relative to a surgical site. The fixation pin is positioned in a rotationally fixed manner at a select position relative to the instrument to hold the instrument against the bone.

  • Publication number: 20100160918
Abstract: A guide for cutting a bone comprising an anterior portion and a distal portion orientated at about a right angle to the anterior portion. The distal portion includes a guiding side, a distal surface at the guiding side, a box-cut shaped opening defined by the guiding side, a plurality of first cutting surfaces disposed at the guiding side at an acute angle relative to the distal surface of the guiding side operable to guide a cutting device to the bone to form chamfer cuts in the bone, and a second cutting surface disposed at the guiding side at least about a right angle to the distal surface operable to guide a cutting device to the bone to form a posterior cut in the bone.

  • Publication number: 20080193424
Abstract: Methods for treating a tissue defect include applying therapeutic compositions to the tissue defect. Treatment of a tissue defect, including wound healing can be enhanced by a process including obtaining blood compatible with the subject, fractionating the blood from the subject to produce a blood component, obtaining stromal cells from the subject, combining the stromal cells and the blood component to form a therapeutic composition, and delivering the therapeutic composition to the tissue defect. Therapeutic compositions for promoting wound healing include isolated stromal cells and a blood component.

  • Patent number: 6972039
Abstract: An articulating bearing knee including a guide post that in a first orientation allows substantially free varus and valgus distraction, but in another constrains the same. The guide post in includes a superior portion that engages a femoral component of a knee prosthesis in a rotated orientation. When the guide post engages the femoral component it may not distract as if it was not engaged. This allows for a control and constraint of such distraction when the knee is rotated and in a weaker position.
