    Abstract: A fluid delivery device includes an array of needles, each in fluid communication with a respective reservoir. Respective actuators are coupled so as to be operable to drive fluid from the reservoirs via needle ports. Each needle can have a plurality of ports, and the ports can be arranged to deliver a substantially equal amount of fluid at any given location along its length. A driver is coupled to the actuators to selectively control the rate, volume, and direction of flow of fluid through the needles. The device can simultaneously deliver a plurality of fluid agents along respective axes in solid tissue in vivo. If thereafter resected, the tissue can be sectioned for evaluation of an effect of each agent on the tissue, and based on the evaluation, candidate agents selected or deselected for clinical trials or therapy, and subjects selected or deselected for clinical trials or therapeutic treatment.

The interior surface forms a cavity having a volume. The bag is disposed in the housing and is expandable to contact the interior surface of the housing and occupy the entire volume of the cavity when filled with the fluid therapeutic composition. The bag has an opening that is fixed in proximity to the opening of the housing. The seal is configured to prevent air from entering the bag via the bag opening and to prevent air from entering the cavity of the housing via the housing opening.

    Abstract: A mandrel for use in an arc-jet spinning diamond deposition process for coating cutting tool inserts is disclosed. The mandrel has a plurality of cutouts or wells for receiving cutting tool inserts. The receiving wells are machined or otherwise provided to have the same contour as the cutting tool inserts that are placed in the wells. The receiving wells may all have an identical geometry, or different geometries. In one embodiment, the mandrel comprises a single element with the receiving wells machined into the upper surface of the mandrel. In another embodiment, the mandrel comprises a separate upper plate with the receiving wells cut through the plate to form a grid, and a lower base plate which is attached to the upper plate. An intermediate layer of a low melting metal foil may be placed between the grid and base plate to aid adhesion and to provide an interface of high thermal conductivity.

    Abstract: At least the surface region of a cutting tool substrate made of tungsten carbide in a cobalt matrix is carburized to chemically passivate the cobalt prior to deposition of diamond film on it. The passivation improves adhesion by preventing reaction of the cobalt with the diamond in the course of the deposition process. To further improve adhesion of the diamond, cobalt is removed from the exposed surfaces of the tungsten carbide grains by heat treatment in inert gas or by hydrogen plasma.
