  • Patent number: 4802462
Abstract: A back attachment for a muscle exercise and/or rehabilitation apparatus of the type having a motor driven output shaft with a central axis, includes seat for supporting a person thereon; a back exercising frame connected to the output shaft for pivoting the back of the person about the central axis when the person is seated in the seat; a support stand for fixedly supporting the seat at a downward angle of approximately 15 degrees toward a front portion of the seat, regardless of the angle of pivot of the back exercising frame; securing straps for securing the person to the seat and back exercising frame; an adjustable foot rest connected to the seat for supporting the feet of the person, during pivoting the back exercising frame, the adjustable foot rest being adjustable along the length thereof toward and away from the seat; a lumbar support connected with the back exercising frame for supporting the lumbar region of the person about an axis offset from the central axis, during pivoting movement of the back

  • Patent number: 4192438
Abstract: A gun type device for removing radioactive gas from a sealed hypodermic type vial. The device includes a sealable recess including a pair of concentric hollow needles which penetrate the vial upon the closing of the chamber with a vial still remaining within a lead shielded container which then forms a part of the sealed chamber. An inlet port under control of a push button valve conducts an inert gas under compression through one of said needles to displace and mix with the radioactive gas and force the same through the other of said needles to an outlet port controlled by a second valve.

  • Patent number: 4185619
Abstract: An improved shield for enclosing the body of a hypodermic syringe to protect a user against exposure from radioactive materials. The shield is formed of two elements, including an upper element having means for engaging the barrel of the syringe, and preferably formed from lightweight metallic materials such as aluminum. A second element formed of tantalum, tungsten, depleted uranium alloy or other dense material offering a high degree of radioactivity shielding is slideably disposed within the first element, and adapted to be retracted in telescopic fashion for dose calibration and subsequent return to an adjustable extended position to cover the lower end of the syringe barrel in which the radioactive contents are contained. Without modification, this syringe shield provides for the accommodation of syringes of different manufacture having different barrel diameters, effective lengths, graduation orientation and flange geometry.

  • Patent number: 4062353
Abstract: A radioactive syringe shield for protecting a user from radiation emanating from a radioactive material disposed within an enclosed syringe, characterized in the provision of a removable arcuately shaped bushing positionable in the bore of the shield for decreasing the effective diameter thereof to support a syringe barrel against a single set screw. The bushing is inserted with the syringe barrel into an oversized bore in the shield permitting passage of the needle of the syringe with an intact needle cover, thereby maintaining sterility of the needle.
