  • Patent number: 7249598
Abstract: A hydrogen augmented diesel crankcase ventilation system uses hydrogen to allow crankcase fumes, for example blow-by, to be burned by the engine. The system preferably includes a hydrogen generation system as a hydrogen source connected to an engine air intake by a first hose, a second hose connecting the crankcase to the air intake, and a third hose connecting a fresh air source to the crankcase. An orifice or a vacuum regulator in cooperation with the second hose may be included to regulate crankcase vacuum. A filter may reside inline with the second hose to capture solids or liquids which enter the second hose from the crankcase. A back flow preventor may be included in cooperation with the third hose to prevent a back flow of crankcase fumes through the third hose.

  • Patent number: 6553989
Abstract: A self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) that includes an emergency filtration device for use in the event of an SCBA malfunction or exhaustion is described. The SCBA may include an air supply, a visored face mask, a hose connecting the air supply to the face mask, and a regulator controlling the supply of air from the air supply to the face mask. The regulator has a regulator cover or front plate with a given configuration. The emergency air filtration device is adapted to connect to the face mask in place of the regulator, and includes an air filtration media within a housing, and a filtration device cover positioned in front of the device. The filtration device cover has a configuration corresponding to the given configuration of the regulator cover, so that the user responds by “muscle memory” to quickly replace the regulator with the filtration device under stressful conditions with limited visability.

  • Patent number: 5452712
Abstract: The present invention relates to a disposable smoke mask that is designed to be pulled over the head of a person. The disposable smoke mask includes a cooperating elastic forehead strap and a wrap-around elastic strap. The forehead strap can be pulled down so as to extend under the chin of a person wearing the smoke mask. To securely seal the mask about the head, the wrap-around strap is stretched and extended around the back of the neck area and underneath the chin of the wearer and then the wrap-around strap is extended along one side of the face area of the mask where it is secured in place. In the end, the forehead strap and the wrap-around strap cooperate to seal the mask around the face of the person wearing the same. Formed in the front of the smoke mask is a multi-stage filter, a one-way check valve, and a see through vinyl panel.

  • Patent number: 4358016
Abstract: Document sorting apparatus for sorting documents having data characters recorded thereon into a selected one of a plurality of storage pockets depending upon the data characters. Sorter controllers, each associated with a pre-determined number of the storage pockets, are provided for controlling the gate mechanisms of the storage pockets within their respective control areas so as to direct the document into the selected one of the pockets. The sorter controllers comprise single cycle processors which execute program instructions stored in memory in implementing document tracking functions. Further, the sorter controllers are responsive to destination and sequential tracking numbers assigned to each document by a central processor for recognizing a document as being intended for a pocket within its control area.
