Abstract: An apparatus including a body, a shaft assembly extending distally from the body, and an end effector configured to grasp and transmit RF energy to the tissue. The end effector includes a first jaw having a first tissue grasping feature and a second jaw. The second jaw is pivotably coupled to the first jaw between an open position, a partially closed position, and a closed position. The second jaw includes a proximal taper having a proximal electrode surface, a distal taper including a distal electrode surface, and a juncture between the proximal and distal electrode surface. The juncture is spaced further from the first tissue grasping feature compared to the proximal and distal end while the second jaw is in the partially closed position. • Patent number: 4340033
Abstract: An apparatus and method is described and illustrated for maximizing the efficiency of a solar collector and the like as well as that of a liquid storage tank by maintaining the temperature of the liquid at the bottom of the tank at a relatively low point through the use of a temperature limiting valve which assures utilization of a major portion of the heat from the liquid by the load prior to transmission of the liquid below a predetermined temperature to a lower portion of the storage tank from which the liquid is again circulated as to a solar collector. Stratification is encouraged by introducing heated liquid from the collector to the storage tank at one or more raised positions, and by the use of velocity reducers such as are normally used to reduce turbulence, together with other temperature limiting apparatus which would limit the flow to high temperature liquid for efficient operation.

  • Patent number: 4034952
Abstract: A hot plastic injection bushing for delivering molten plastic molding material from an injection molding machine to a cavity mold in which the bushing comprises a smooth bore tubular member, the bore of which is adapted to pass the molten plastic from the molding machine to one or more parts of the mold. The tubular member is heated by means of a heat pipe surrounding the tubular member. The heat pipe comprises an evacuated chamber partially filled with a vaporizable liquid and is heated by means of an external electrical heater automatically controlled to maintain the temperature of the heat pipe at a desired value. The heat pipe is provided with internal wicking along a localized portion and the heater is located adjacent the wicking. The heat pipe operates to maintain all parts of the tubular bore at the same temperature and the bushing maintains the plastic material in the bore in its molten state between successive molding injections except for a small plug in an output area.
