  • Patent number: 6728972
Abstract: A hat is temporarily or permanently formed from fabric that matches or complements the appearance of one's ensemble by wrapping and tucking peripheral portions of the fabric about a relatively stiff yet pliable annular brim core member after a central portion of the fabric has been shaped to define a crown of the hat. The inner periphery of the annular brim core member may be provided with formations that enhance brim flexibility and fit, and/or that assist in holding the fabric covered hat in place on the wearer's head. Unless the fabric is permanently affixed to the brim core member, the brim core member may be reused with other pieces of fabric that match or complement other ensembles. The brim core member can be configured, shaped and styled to give a variety of attractive appearances to hats that are formed in this manner.

  • Patent number: 4858986
Abstract: An inexpensive, lightweight camper is releasably mountable about trunk portions of an automobile without requiring the formation of holes in the automobile body. The camper has a flat floor and front, rear, top and side walls which are foldable to compactly overlie the trunk of the automobile. In the extended position, the camper is relatively large and has the capability of sleeping at least two adults. In the collapsed position, the camper is substantially reduced in size for over-the-road travel. The camper includes a canopy having depending flanges which enclose the remainder of the camper when the camper is in a collapsed position. The expense of the camper is minimized by the use of cardboard as a construction material.

  • Patent number: 4300797
Abstract: A lightweight, compactly foldable recreation enclosure particularly useful as a camper capsule for automobiles is releasably mountable about trunk portions of an automobile without requiring the formation of holes in the automobile body, whereby the watertight integrity of the automobile trunk compartment is maintained. The enclosure has side, front, top and back wall portions which are foldable to compactly overlie the trunk compartment of an automobile, thereby enabling a relatively large camper capsule having a capability of sleeping three adults to be collapsed to a substantially reduced size for over-the-road travel. In one embodiment, the foldable side, front, top and back wall portions are formed from rigid materials and are pivotally mounted for folding. In another embodiment, the foldable side wall portions are formed from flexible material such as canvas.

  • Patent number: 4181348
Abstract: A lightweight camper capsule for automobiles is releasably mountable about trunk portions of an automobile without requiring the formation of holes in the automobile body, whereby the watertight integrity of the automobile trunk compartment is maintained. A pivotal connection is established between the camper capsule and the rear bumper of the automobile, and a pair of body mounts are provided at opposite sides of the trunk lid opening. The body mounts are releasable to permit rearward pivoting of the camper capsule to provide access to the automobile's trunk compartment. The camper capsule is provided with a unique lightweight frame having rearwardly and sidewardly facing corner windows enhancing visibility.
