  • Publication number: 20230028906
Abstract: Systems and methods to reduce accidental touch actions on a touchscreen are disclosed herein. An example electronic device includes a body including a first body portion and a second body portion that is movable relative to the first body portion. The first and second body portions are movable between a folded configuration and an unfolded configuration. The electronic device includes a touchscreen carried by the body, a sensor carried by the body, machine readable instructions, and processor circuitry to be programmed by the machine readable instructions. The processor circuitry is to determine, based on sensor data from the sensor, the body is being folded or unfolded, detect a touch on the touchscreen, and prevent a touch action corresponding to the touch based on the determination the body is being folded or unfolded.

  • Publication number: 20230027386
Abstract: Techniques for overlay components for compute devices are disclosed. In one embodiment, an overlay component on a base portion of a compute device can be moved from a folded or closed position (in which it does not cover the keyboard) to an unfolded or open position (in which it covers part of the keyboard). The base portion includes a touch sensor that allows the overlay component to be used as a touch surface. In another embodiment, an overlay component of a compute device is movable from one position adjacent a display of the compute device to another position adjacent a base of the compute device. The overlay component is electrically switchable from a transparent state to an opaque state, allowing the display to be seen through it in one position and allowing it to be used as an opaque drawing surface in another position.

  • Publication number: 20210318727
Abstract: An example computing device comprises a processor to be coupled to a display device, and a boot controller coupled to the processor and to be coupled to the display device. The boot controller is configured to detect a power signal, receive sensor data detected by one or more sensors prior to an operating system being loaded by a boot process of the processor, determine a posture associated with the display device based on the sensor data detected by the one or more sensors, and communicate, to the display device, posture information indicating the posture associated with the display device. Pre-boot content is to be displayed on a display panel of the display device in a first arrangement based on the posture information. In more specific embodiments, determining the posture includes determining at least an orientation of the display device and whether a peripheral is present on the display device.

  • Patent number: 10412560
Abstract: Disclosed is a mobile device. The mobile device may be located proximate a mobile terminal and controlled by the mobile terminal. The mobile device may include a processor and a memory. The memory may store instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: determine a mode of operation of the mobile device, determine a thermal profile for the mode of operation of the mobile device, and implement a power profile to achieve the thermal profile.

  • Publication number: 20170293335
Abstract: A Power Provider is described which comprises a pull-up resistive device to pull-up a sideband unit (SBU) pin; and logic to adjust voltage level on a power supply node (VBUS) according to the voltage and/or current condition on the SBU pin. A Power Consumer is described which comprises: logic to modulate voltage and/or current on SBU pin; and logic to receive a power supply on a power supply node (VBUS) according to the modulated voltage and/or current on the SBU pin. A USB system is described which comprises: a power provider having a first SBU pin which is pulled high; a power consumer having a second SBU pin, wherein the power consumer is operable to modulate voltage/current on the second SBU pin; and a USB Type-C cable coupled to the power provider and the power consumer such that the first and second SBU pins are electrically connected.

  • Patent number: 9170615
Abstract: A rack mount network appliance may include a chassis that includes a front compartment proximal a front side of the chassis and a rear compartment proximal a rear side of the chassis. The chassis may be configured to be mounted in an appliance rack. A front vent on the front side of the chassis may be configured to allow air to flow between an external environment and the front compartment. A front loading module mountable in the front compartment may include a heat generating device. A front loading airflow module may be configured to draw in air within the front compartment into the front loading airflow module in a first direction and force air out of the front loading airflow module into the rear compartment in a second direction such that air is drawn in the front vent, over the heat generating device of the front loading module, and forced rearward over rear heat generating devices and out a rear vent of the chassis. The first direction may be substantially orthogonal to the second direction.
