  • Patent number: 12659544
Abstract: Techniques for securely decoding video streams are disclosed. A secure execution space is established within a device to manage decryption, decoding, and enhancement operations without exposing protected content to non-secure components. Encrypted base video data is decrypted and decoded on protected resources, while enhancement data is decoded by an enhancement decoder. The decoded enhancement data is combined with the base decoded signal within the secure environment to produce a final enhanced output. The approach provides efficient enhancement decoding and secure playback of premium content across a range of devices and platforms.

  • Publication number: 20240430517
Abstract: According to examples there may be provided a method of implementing an enhancement decoding, comprising: creating one or more source buffers to receive an encoded video stream, the encoded video stream comprising an encrypted base video signal and an enhancement video signal; in a secure execution space, creating one or more protected input buffers and one or more protected output buffers to receive decrypted data; passing the one or more source buffers and the one or more protected input buffers to a decryption module to decrypt the encrypted base video signal and store the decrypted base video signal in the one or more protected input buffers; passing the one or more protected input buffers to a base decoder to implement a base decoding layer to decode the decrypted base video signal; passing the one or more source buffers to the secure execution space for decoding the enhancement video signal using an enhancement decoder.
