  • Patent number: 11878192
Abstract: A fire or smoke curtain comprising ng a plurality of panels (41, 42, 43) of fire curtain material. The panels are arranged to overlap at their edges (7) when the curtain is deployed. Each over-lapping edge has a metallic reinforcing strip (12) that are incorporated with the panels having the said edge along the latter.

  • Patent number: 11179586
Abstract: A concertina smoke or fire barrier comprising a curtain having a plurality of concertina-fold curtain webs and a plurality of concertina flanges. The flanges extend from a stitching joint between each adjacent pair of curtain webs. Normally closed door opening in the curtain, the door opening being provided by a slit extending through several of curtain webs and their flanges. Cuts in the flanges adjacent to the slit allow flange portions between the slit and the cuts to be stitched against their webs. A strip of curtain web material is stitched to the curtain webs on one side of the slit for covering it when the door opening is closed. Hook and loop fastening tape is located on both sides of the slit, one piece of the tape being stitched to the strip and another complementary piece being stitched to the curtain webs to the other side of the slit.

  • Patent number: 11154736
Abstract: A fire or smoke barrier (1) having a head box (2) for housing a curtain (4) which is open at its underside to allow the curtain to be deployed and withdrawn. The head box (2) houses a roller (3) for the curtain (4) to be rolled from for deployment and rolled back onto for withdrawal and attached at the bottom of the curtain (4) is a bottom bar (7) for weighing down the curtain (4) when deployed. The head box (2) has one or more apertures (14, 15) for cleaning air circulation and being provided at the, or each, aperture (14,15) with a spring (22) loaded trap (16,17) normally held open by a fusible link (31), the link fusing (31) in event of fire.

  • Patent number: 9956442
Abstract: A curtain is wound on a roller (2), provided in a head box (4), mounted in a ceiling (6). The curtain is also provided with a bottom bar (10). When the curtain is drawn up onto the roller, the bottom bar (10) can be used to close the head box (4). When deployed the bottom bar provides stability to the descending curtain, and in full deployment rests on the floor. The curtain is provided with additional strips (30) of fabric, to allow ease of roll up onto the roller. The strip(s) arc attached at their top end only, to the curtain. Typically this will be by sewing (32), but also may be rivets or other form of heat resistant connection. The strip(s) are also connected to the bottom bar. A cable (34) is attached to the strip(s), usually through a rivet, but any other form of secure attachment may be used. The cable is then connected to the bottom bar, via a spring (36). This connects to keep the strip(s) in tension, to enable ease of rolling of the curtain.

  • Publication number: 20090266498
Abstract: A heat resistant curtain has a vent typically extending up from a bottom edge. At the vent, flaps of the curtain on either side of the vent have marginal overlaps. To these are stitched elevated temperature resistant hook and loop fastening tapes. These normally keep the vent closed. The curtain is provided with a bottom bar drawn up to close the head box when the curtain is not deployed. When the curtain is deployed, the bottom bar rests on the floor.
