  • Publication number: 20040153344
Abstract: A system and method for creating and updating a mobile medical record are provided. The system and method include a radio frequency identification tag storing medical record data such as patient data. A handheld computing device downloads a medical care plan from a record database via a communication network. The handheld computing device is equipped with a radio frequency identification interrogator that is capable of reading data from and writing data to the radio frequency identification tag. Thus, the handheld computing device is capable of creating and updating a medical record stored on the radio frequency identification tag.

  • Publication number: 20040104271
Abstract: A medication delivery system (20) having features of the present invention comprises a medical container (26) holding a prescribed medication (27) to be delivered to a patient, a tag 24 adapted to be worn by the patient, a handheld computing device (22), and an electronic medication delivery device (30). Data on the medication (27) is contained in a first label (28) on the medication container (27). The first label (28) also contains the instruction on how the medication is delivered to the patient, including the appropriate settings for an electronic medication delivery device for delivering the medication to the patient. Patient data is contained in a second label (29) on the tag (24) worn by the patient. The medication data, medication delivery instruction, and patient data are provided in machine readable formats. The handheld computing device (22) reads the medication data and the medication delivery instruction on the medication container (26) and the patient data on the patient tag (24).

  • Publication number: 20030141981
Abstract: A system and method for operating medical devices is provided. The system and method may be used to program an infusion pump. The system may be implemented in a variety of ways including as a computer program. The system may include a first computer at a pharmacy and a second computer at a treatment location. The system sends operating parameters to the medical device after providing various checks to assure that the correct medication is being administered to the correct patient. The system may also include features for confirming the operating parameters are still valid and features for sending alarms to the treatment location if there are discrepancies between the operating parameters, medication identifiers, and/or patient identifiers.

  • Publication number: 20030140928
Abstract: A system and method for providing medical treatment, such as medication, to a patient. The administration of the medication may include the use of an infusion pump. The system may be implemented in a variety of ways including as a computer program. The computer program accessing information related to the identity of a clinician, the identity of a patient, the identity of a medical treatment, and the identity of a medical device. The computer program determines whether the medical treatment has been previously associated with the patient and whether a plurality of operating parameters for the medical device are consistent with the medical treatment. The computer program also includes logic for providing a first error signal if the medical treatment has not been previously identified with the patient; and a second error signal if the operating parameters for the medical device are not consistent with the medical treatment.

  • Patent number: 5029658
Abstract: A filter system for mass/weight apparatus that produces an electrical signal correlated to a mass/weight including a mechanical design for the apparatus so that the resonant vibrational frequency thereof falls above signal components of interest in the electrical signal, a fifth order low pass analog signal, and a digital low pass filter having 21/2 poles at a cut-off frequency designated so as to preserve signed characteristics in the signal of interest and significantly attenuate signal characteristics due to resonant vibrational noise.
